Bring Your Imagination, Not a Rulebook

Winging It is an online role-playing game designed to be welcoming to tabletop RPG newcomers. We have streamlined complicated character creation, rule lookups, and game-master preparation: create a room, choose a character, and describe what you want to do in natural language. You do not need to memorize a rulebook or learn how to be a game master before playing. Just bring your friends and your imagination, and begin an adventure of your own.

Dice rolls, attributes, skills, and difficulty calculations are displayed clearly. Success opens new opportunities, while failure carries real consequences and keeps the story moving instead of bringing the adventure to a halt.

## Free to Download—Only the Host Pays for AI Usage

Winging It is free to download. In multiplayer rooms, only the host spends “Inspiration” on paid AI features. Other players can join the room and participate without spending Inspiration. Inspiration can be purchased optionally through Steam Wallet.

Four Modes, Four Different Experiences

1. Co-op Mode

Form a party with friends and explore, negotiate, fight, and complete shared objectives through shared turns. Every player can influence the situation with their abilities and ideas. How the group divides responsibilities, builds trust, and deals with failure will shape the course of the adventure.

2. Werewolf Mode

Navigate hidden identities and public discussion. Pay attention to what others say, protect your secrets, pursue personal objectives, and cooperate with members of your faction when necessary. Information, lies, trust, and timing all become valuable resources.

3. Romance Mode

Experience a single-player romantic story in which relationships take center stage. Rather than repeatedly solving mysteries, you will get to know different characters, respect their boundaries, face difficult choices, and build—or lose—trust through meaningful decisions. Difficulty settings affect relationship risks, opportunity windows, and the consequences of failure.

4. Life Mode

Choose a person whose life you want to experience and begin the story at one of their defining periods. The game uses the character’s era, environment, relationships, available resources, and real-world difficulties to reconstruct a grounded life journey.

You can make the same decisions they originally made, or try to change the regrets they left behind. If history has not been significantly altered, the story will continue toward the character’s original milestones. If your choices change the chain of cause and effect, their later life will develop into a plausible new path, with the game explaining which decisions caused the divergence. You are not simply watching someone’s life—you are rewriting it yourself within the limits, pressures, and consequences of their world.

Hear the Characters Speak

Game-master narration and character dialogue support real-time voice playback, allowing the story to be experienced through sound as well as text. You can also use Steam Voice to communicate with your party and choose from available local or usage-based voice options.

Speech recognition also requires processing resources, so the game does not currently include built-in speech-to-text input. If you want to speak your actions, you can use your operating system or a third-party voice input method to convert speech into text. This is usually inexpensive and easy to use, while allowing players to choose the input tool they prefer.

Put Choice Back in the Player’s Hands

Generate a new scenario, play a recommended adventure, or continue from a saved game. Winging It is designed to make rules serve imagination rather than restrict it. We want players to attempt actions that a traditional fixed script could never anticipate and experience an adventure that feels as free and personal as possible.

Stories are created in real time using generative AI, so every session may be different. Game states and endings are constrained by the game engine, but AI-generated narration may still occasionally produce unexpected variations.
