About This Game

Areteion is a collectible card game that plays like a strategy game. Cards go onto a map, where they farm, hunt, sail, build and fight. A game takes about 15 minutes.

Twelve Olympians who each play differently. Demeter farms, Artemis hunts, Poseidon sails, Ares goes to war, and eight more have their own ways. A deck takes one god or two.

A map full of myth. Barbarian camps, pirate hideouts, the Lernaean Hydra, the Minotaur, and encounters like the Trojan Horse and Circe.

Favor with Olympus. From the fifth round the gods alternate blessings and curses. Favor pays for the blessing, or pays off the curse.

Journeys or single games. Five games in a row with a deck that changes after every one, or a single game. Alone against a score, against the AI, or online against friends and strangers.

Areteion is a solo passion project. AI tools are what made this scope of art and audio possible for one person, and each asset was chosen, not accepted.

All card art was generated with Midjourney. Finding the game's visual style took a large part of development, and every one of the 600+ card images was individually directed, selected from many candidates, and rejected or reworked until it fit.

Sound effects and music were made with ElevenLabs and Suno and carefully selected in the same manner.

The narrator's card and encounter introductions were written with Claude from the original myths and voiced with ElevenLabs.
