What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Subspace: Redux's core flight and PvP combat loop is playable and stable, but the systems that define its long-term shape are still being built with the community, not just polished for it. Ship balance shifts based on real match data we don't have yet outside our own internal testing. Our permanent Ship Enhancements store and additional Battlegrounds modes are still being designed around what players actually want. Early Access is where that data and that direction come from -- we're not looking for bug reports, we're looking for input
on how a permanently-online PvP space shooter should play at scale.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to run for approximately 2-3 months, depending on how ship balance, Battlegrounds modes, and the Ship Enhancements store evolve based on player feedback. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the ship roster and permanent Ship Enhancements over time, add more Battlegrounds modes and maps based on what the community responds to, and continue tuning ship balance from real match data. We also plan to harden matchmaking, net-code, and on-boarding as the player base grows. Early Access is the version where all of that gets decided; the full version is where it lands.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Core game-play including ship flight, PvP combat, loot, are playable now. Steam
integration (achievements, leader-boards, cloud saves, matchmaking) is being finished and hardened alongside real player traffic, and ship balance and the permanent Ship Enhancements store are both still actively evolving based on how players actually play.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, The game is free to play with optional Premium Purchases in the future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community directly shapes where Subspace Redux goes. Ship balance and Battlegrounds map design are tuned from a mix of player feedback and match data gathered during Early Access, and which ships, modes, and Ship Enhancements we build next is decided by what players actually ask for and spend time doing in-game.

Players can talk to us directly on our Discord, this game's Steam Community Hub — both are where we post updates, gather bug reports and balance feedback, and discuss upcoming features before they ship. Popular requests and repeatd feedback get priority in our roadmap.

About This Game

Fast, Fair, Serverless Space Combat

Subspace: Redux is a spiritual successor to the classic multiplayer dogfighting of

Subspace/Continuum — rebuilt from the ground up with zero server costs and zero

subscriptions. Every match runs peer-to-peer over Steam. No dedicated servers to shut down,

no live-service sunset. Buy it once, play it forever.

Fly Your Way

Choose from 16 distinct hulls, each a genuine sidegrade — not a stat upgrade. Warbird,

Javelin, Spider, and five more are free from the start. Eight premium ships, ranging from

Rare to Singularity rarity, add new handling and weapon characteristics to master, never a

raw power advantage over free pilots.

Premium is cosmetic and sidegrade only — this is not a pay-to-win game.

Loot, Bounty, and a Galaxy Worth Exploring

  • Rarity-tiered loot upgrades eight independent ship systems — guns, bombs, mines,

  • engines, thrusters, armour, shields, and reactor — from Common all the way to Singularity.

  • Earn Bounty in combat and track your progress toward over 160 Steam achievements.

  • Travel a quadrant-linked galaxy through jump gates, from safe zones to contested

  • territory.

  • Form a squad of up to five pilots and take on the frontier together.

Built on Steam, For Players

Steam handles matchmaking presence, achievements, and friend invites — there's no separate

account, no launcher, no always-online requirement beyond Steam itself. Your progress, your

ships, your galaxy.
