Why Early Access?

“Plonk! A 4D Puzzle is in Early Access because the puzzles, challenges and UX are still in active development. Solving jigsaws across time as well as space is a new idea for most players, so player feedback is genuinely useful to us — it tells us where puzzles read clearly, where difficulty spikes, and how the interactions feel in the headset. Releasing in Early Access lets us apply what players tell us about the released worlds to the ones still being built. We've been developing the game since 2024 and are committed to seeing it through to a full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Plonk! A 4D Puzzle to be in Early Access for approximately 12 to 24 months. Our plan is to release new worlds and content updates regularly throughout that period, until all five worlds are available. This is an estimate rather than a commitment, and we'll keep this page and our Steam announcements updated as development progresses.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the first world. We plan to add four more worlds, In the Nature, Clock City, Super Space, and Hyperdelica, bringing the game to a planned 50 levels, each with its own Challenge mode, bonus challenges and leaderboards. Alongside the new content, we plan to keep refining the puzzles, audio, UX, environments and performance based on what players tell us. We intend for each new world to be a free update to the base game, and the overall scope may change as we respond to feedback during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Plonk! A 4D Puzzle is playable and polished. The first world is complete: a full tutorial and 10 hand-animated puzzle levels, each with a Challenge mode, and global and friends leaderboards. Both motion controllers and hand tracking are supported. Expect roughly 1 to 2 hours for the main levels, and several more to clear every challenge, depending on skill. Worlds 2, 3, 4 and 5 are in development and not yet playable.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price gradually as new worlds and features are added during Early Access, so the price reflects the amount of content available at the time. Players who buy during Early Access keep access to every update at no additional cost, including the worlds released after they purchase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our Discord is the main place we talk with players, we share development progress, post level and challenge statistics, and take feedback on puzzle design, difficulty and comfort directly from the people playing. Feedback from players has already changed level ordering, clue design and hand tracking behaviour, and we plan to keep using it to shape the remaining worlds as they're built. We also read and respond to the Steam discussion boards, and post regular updates through Steam announcements as new content ships. Player feedback has already shaped the game at public events over the past two years, and we plan to keep working that way as the remaining worlds are built.”
