What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This is a game I've been working on to learn how Unreal Engine works. I enjoy playing similar games with my sister, brother-in-law and some friends. So I thought I'd give it a shot at making my own. I would like to consider new ideas for synergies, plan a more unique build for each playable character and would love to hear the feedback from the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm really not sure. I plan to continue developing the game and seeing where it leads. Once I have a clear picture of what the completed game will look like I can figure out a full release date. Roughly to be fully released some time next April.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Well, I plan on adding more cards, more Sigils, more enemies, more status effects, more... everything. And probably a whole lot of bug fixes and changes to the way things look and work. I'd also like to implement accessibility features and find more ways to insult and antagonize everyone!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the early access version allows you to experiment with a little over 2 dozen cards, over a dozen different enemies to battle against, a dozen different sigils and allows for multiple play throughs at increasing levels of difficulty... or giggles at you when you run away to start fresh without an increase in difficulty. Please see the About This section for currently supported features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I don't have any plans to change the price. This is a passion project I work on in my free time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As the development of the game continues I will be taking in feedback through email, comments and reviews and considering each of them to help build and shape the future of the game into something that I and the community can come to love and enjoy.”

About This Game

Mercy is a myth. Survival is a clerical error.

Welcome to Mercy's Edge, a dark-fantasy roguelite deckbuilder where the world is dying, the gods are bored, and your best weapon is a fresh stack of cards that hate you almost as much as your enemies do.

Every run drags you through a randomly generated gauntlet of cursed rooms, sarcastic NPCs, questionable upgrades, and bosses who definitely skipped "fairness" day in school.

You'll fight, fail, upgrade, fail harder, unlock new cards, fail differently, and eventually convince yourself that this time you've cracked the build that will carry you to victory.

(You haven't. But we admire the optimism.)

Features

  • Tactical, Card Driven Combat

  • Build a deck of attacks, spells, curses, and "why does this card exist" utilities.

  • Synergize your way to glory or misplay your way into a shallow grave. (Both are valid strategies.)

  • A World That Loathes You...

  • Explore a grim, sarcastic realm where every character has something snarky to say and every room is a trap disguised as a gift. Shops, elites, mystery rooms, rest sites... all of them want something from you, usually your health.

Build, Break, and Abuse Synergies

  • Create devastating combos, stack absurd buffs, or accidentally soft-lock yourself into a corner.

  • The system is flexible. Your brain may not be.

  • Apply synergistic debuffs upon your foes and pray you draw a card that can capitalize upon them... or play others that'll force you to draw until you pull the one you want.

Dark Humor Meets Darker Fantasy

  • The writing blends bleak worldbuilding with sharp, self-aware sarcasm.

  • If you enjoy laughing while everything burns, you'll feel right at home.

The world of Mercy's Edge

This land is ancient, broken, and held together by spite. Magic is fading, monsters are thriving, and the gods have stopped answering calls (probably because they blocked your number). Your journey through this dying realm is equal parts strategy, suffering, and schadenfreude.

Why you'll love it

  • You enjoy deckbuilders that reward clever play

  • You like roguelites that punch back

  • You appreciate dark humor and sarcastic writing

  • You want a game that challenges you without wasting your time (...)

  • You're tired of being shown mercy.
