Serith, a proud dark elf envoy of House Vaereth, is sent to the human surface with a simple purpose: turn men and dwarves against each other for the benefit of her house. She arrives cold, disciplined, and certain of her own superiority — but the human court does not meet her on clean political ground.

As Serith moves through hostile halls, private rooms, dangerous negotiations, and morally ugly bargains, every compromise changes how others see her — and how she learns to use them in return.
