What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Bramble Guard combines turn-based adventure-map strategy, RPG progression, army building, and several forms of tactical combat. Although the core systems are already playable, getting their balance, pacing, clarity, and difficulty right requires more than internal testing.
Early Access allows us to see how different players explore the world, develop their heroes, build their armies, and approach battles. That feedback will help us improve the game’s systems, determine our development priorities, and shape Bramble Guard into an experience that can be supported for years to come.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Bramble Guard to remain in Early Access for approximately 6-12 months. The exact duration will depend on the amount of balancing, polishing, and iteration required after receiving community feedback. We will share regular progress updates and revise this estimate if our plans change.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to build upon the existing core rather than replace it. During Early Access, our main priorities will be stability, performance, balance, difficulty, onboarding, interface clarity, and the overall pacing of exploration, progression, and combat.
We also intend to refine the different encounter types—including defensive battles, siege attacks, and tactical encounters—based on how players actually approach them.
The most significant planned content expansion is the addition of campaigns for other playable factions. Each faction campaign is intended to tell a largely self-contained story while contributing to the wider world of Bramble Guard. The exact scope and development priorities may evolve in response to Early Access feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At launch, the Early Access version will include the opening chapter of the Empire Alliance campaign, offering approximately one hour of story content, as well as a replayable single-player skirmish mode.
Skirmish mode provides unrestricted access to the currently playable faction and its core systems. Players can expand their castle, recruit and develop heroes and armies, and explore most of the currently available biomes while encountering the existing range of creatures.
Core features—including hero progression, equipment, mounts, and vehicles—are already playable. However, this remains an actively developed Early Access build, so players should expect balance, pacing, usability, content, and stability to continue evolving.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not currently plan to change the base price when Bramble Guard leaves Early Access. Players who purchase the game during Early Access will retain access to the game and its future updates at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will communicate with players through the Steam Community Hub and our official Discord server.
Bug reports will help us identify and prioritize technical problems, while discussions and gameplay feedback will inform balancing, usability improvements, difficulty, and the development of individual systems. We also plan to share patch notes and development updates so players can see what is changing and why.
Not every suggestion will necessarily fit the game, but every constructive report or idea will be considered. We want the community to have a real influence on how Bramble Guard develops throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

Spend your daylight exploring branching roads, lifting fog, claiming mines, opening gates, finding shrines, and deciding which trouble deserves today's supplies. What you discover on the map changes what you can build, upgrade, defend, and risk next.

Bramble Guard is a fantasy strategy-defense game about dangerous maps to uncover, castles to manage, and tactical encounters where towers are only the beginning.

A TOWER IS NOT A TURRET

Towers in Bramble Guard are not just weapons on sticks. They are places defenders come from.

Knights step into the lane and physically hold enemies in place. Archers punish the wave from behind. Spearmen buy breathing room before pressure breaks the line. Monks keep the wounded standing long enough for the next decision to matter.

  • Place towers to control space, not only to deal damage.

  • Send real defenders into visible lanes.

  • Watch the front line shift as units block, fall back, recover, and return.

MAPS, CASTLES, AND BAD JUDGEMENT

Before and between encounters, you guide heroes and the forces bound to them through dangerous maps full of roads, fog, mines, castles, shrines, treasures, blocked paths, and decisions that would look wiser from a safe distance.

Those maps are not just paths between fights. They belong to a wider fantasy world of different castles, races, factions, forest peoples, broken orders, old borders, and places that remember who failed them.

Castles and claimed sites are not decoration. They are part of the strategy layer: places to strengthen, routes to open, resources to secure, and positions to hold while the world gets less polite around you.

Armies do not wander politely on their own. They move with heroes, follow them into danger, and appear on the field when a hero is there to lead them.

Across the road, you discover who still lives here, who wants the ruins back, and what the corruption has made out of everyone else.

  • Explore multiple campaign maps instead of one fixed board.
  • Move heroes and their bound forces through the world instead of selecting battles from a menu.
  • Travel through regions shaped by distinct castles, races, factions, and old powers.
  • Claim mines and sites to support future expeditions.
  • Manage castles, gates, routes, and upgrades between fights.
  • Meet factions, guardians, settlements, and enemies through encounters and story moments.
  • Spend limited movement carefully: the road always wants more than you brought.

WHEN THE ROAD ARGUES BACK

Encounters are not always the same kind of fight. Bramble Guard uses tower-defense battles, inverted defense scenarios, and more direct tactical clashes to keep the road from becoming predictable.

Sometimes you are holding a lane. Sometimes pressure comes from the wrong direction. Sometimes the answer is not another tower, but the right hero, formation, ability, or upgrade at the right moment.

  • Fight active 3D tower-defense battles with physical defenders.

  • Face encounter variants beyond standard tower defense.

  • Use heroes, abilities, formations, upgrades, and battle gold to survive changing pressure.

BRING SOMETHING HOME

Victory does not vanish when the encounter ends. Salvage, claimed sites, opened roads, castle progress, hero growth, discoveries, achievements, and upgrades change what the next map allows.

A good expedition makes the next expedition less doomed. Slightly.

  • Bring resources back from encounters.

  • Open new routes and strengthen important positions.

  • Build toward better defenses, stronger heroes, and safer roads.

A SAD STORYBOOK FANTASY

There were ten Trees of Memory, once. Nine burned. One remains.

The Heartwood is the last living Tree of Memory and the final refuge of an ancient order. The corruption spreading from its roots was born from grief, not simple evil. Bramble Guard begins bright and readable, then lets sorrow creep into the color one thorn at a time.
