What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Wackytown is built by one person. Early Access lets players get their hands on it now while I keep refining wave pacing, balance, and the things you only catch when actual humans play your game instead of the dev who wrote it. Feedback from EA players will directly shape which enemies, upgrades, and game modes get added before 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for approximately 6-12 months, but the timeline depends on what feedback surfaces. 1.0 ships when the game feels done — not on a fixed date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the full version with additional enemy types, more bosses, new game modes, and a deeper cosmetic and lore system. The 1.0 version is planned to include more polish on multiplayer, expanded daily run modifiers, and refined balance based on EA feedback. We're not promising any specific feature will ship — these are intentions, not commitments.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Wackytown is a 2D top-down wave-defense game. The Early Access build
includes 14-wave campaign + multiplayer co-op, play-as-enemies mode,
40+ achievements, an in-game skin and map editor, a lore codex, the
wacky coins economy, daily and weekly challenges, in-game chat, and
public server browsing.

Features planned for the full release: a 50-tier cosmetic pass,
expanded upgrades, ranked mode with global leaderboards, and a
Steam Workshop integration. These are not in the Early Access build —
they will roll out across updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Wackytown is free during Early Access. As we ship new content and features, we plan to gradually raise the price. Anyone who claims the game during the free Early Access period keeps it permanently at no cost — the price change only applies to new buyers after the 1.0 transition.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Steam discussions, Discord, and the Workshop are the main channels. Players can submit feedback on balance and bugs directly through the Steam Community Hub, upload custom skins through the Steam Workshop integration, and join the Discord for closer development chat. Patch notes go out on the Steam page so EA players can see what's changing. We read every review.”

About This Game

WACKYTOWN

A wave-defense game that respects your time and aggressively disrespects your dignity.

Survive 14 waves of escalating absurdity. Soft little things at first — basic enemies that walk in a line and die when shot. Then it gets worse. By wave 7 you're freezing teleporting jesters mid-spawn while a phase boss takes your base apart on the other side of the screen. By wave 14 you've spent $20,000 on a piercing upgrade and you still aren't sure if it was worth it.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX

- 14 hand-tuned waves with a real ending — not a roguelike, not an infinite-survival hamster wheel. You beat it or you don't.

- 25+ enemy types: speedsters, tanks, jesters, vampires, freezers, splitters, ghosts, and four named bosses.

- 20+ upgrades. Buy whatever's funny. Lifesteal AND thorns is a build. Crit chance AND knockback is a build. Regret is also a build.

- Online 2-player co-op via Steam friends. Host a room, send an invite through the Steam overlay, your friend joins instantly.

- A multiplayer "Play as Enemies" mode where one player swaps roles with the wave manager. Buy enemies with coins, spawn them at the worst possible moment, and try to kill your friend.

- Four difficulties: Easy / Normal / Hard / Impossible. Impossible has a 3x HP multiplier and an achievement titled "Walked Through Hell." It is not a metaphor.

- 56 real achievements. 5 fake ones. You'll know which is which.

- Meta-progression: Wacky Coins + Account XP across runs, unlock cosmetics from a 22-item shop (skins, bullet trails, kill effects, victory dances), and dig into a 25-entry lore codex.

- A 50-tier seasonal Battle Pass with a free track for everyone and a premium track for the obsessed. New season every 90 days.

- Leaderboards for highest wave, fastest wave-14 clear, and the daily run (everyone gets the same seed for the same day).

DEFEND. DESTROY. SURVIVE.

Wackytown is a small, tightly-tuned 14-wave run made by Wackytown. Average run length 10-25 minutes. Pick up, play, beat the final wave, brag to your friends, go to bed.
