What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I'm releasing Overlap in Early Access because I want real players shaping it while it grows. There's no team behind this game. It's just me, and I'd rather hear from the people actually playing than guess what works. Right now you can play the first world, its bosses, and endless waves. More worlds are on the way, and your feedback decides what the next patch fixes, which weapons and enemies come next, and how each new world feels. That doesn't stop when the game leaves Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“ Approximately one year, targeting a 1.0 release in mid to late 2027.
That estimate may shift as the worlds get built out and the
combat tuning settles. If it slides, I'll say so on the store
page and in the patch notes rather than quietly miss the date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“ • Additional bosses and enemy types as the remaining worlds
ship
• More weapon classes
• Sprite work and a visual polish pass across the whole game
• Steam Deck Verified rating
• Localized text for several languages
• Quality-of-life and accessibility passes based on player
feedback
• Balance tuning across every weapon, boss, and difficulty
tier”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“ • weapons: PeCl, Light gun.
• One of nine planned worlds is live and playable end to end
• A coin shop where the order you buy weapons sets their
hotbar slot
• A style meter that grades every kill from D to SSS and
punishes you for playing safe
• Eight unlockable suits with their own movement tricks
• Per-weapon mastery and a prestige system that carry
between runs
• Boss-drop gear that stacks into your build
• Steam achievements and Steam Cloud save”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase modestly when the game leaves Early Access to reflect the additional content and polish. Players who buy during Early Access pay the lower price permanently.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Steam community hub and an active feedback channel (Discord or email listed in the in game credits) are where I'll be reading every report. Build patches will
reference community feedback in the changelogs. Player suggestions about weapon balance, boss patterns, and quality of life features will directly influence what I work on next.”

About This Game

OVERLAP

A FAST 2D WAVE SHOOTER BUILT AROUND THE PARRY

Every projectile in Overlap can be parried. Catch a bullet at the right moment and it screams back faster for double damage, refilling the energy that keeps you moving. Miss the window and you're in trouble. The parry isn't a defensive option. It's the entire economy, and aggression is the only way to stay alive.

TWO WEAPONS

The PeCl is a compact gun that fires fast pellets and leaves

behind energy cubes you can shoot through for chain damage.
The Light gun is a hit scan weapon that does a low amount of damage. Who knows, it might be upgraded soon.
(there will be more weapons in the future)

EARN YOUR ARSENAL

Coins drop every twenty-five waves you clear. Spend them in

the shop on the weapons past your starter pistol. The

order you buy them is the order they slot into your hotbar,

so the second weapon you buy is always your "weapon 2,"

whatever it is. Build the loadout you actually use.

NINE WORLDS

A story campaign across nine planets. Each world has its own

arenas, enemy roster, music, and boss who drops gear that

stacks into your build. Clear one to reach the next.

STYLE OR DIE

A style meter grades every kill from D to SSS. It decays if

you lean on one weapon or play it safe. Variety, parry kills,

slam kills, and clean wave clears drive it upward. Reaching S

feels good. Reaching SSS feels unfair, in your favor.

BUILDS THAT STICK

Per-weapon mastery. Eight unlockable suits with their own

movement tricks like faster dashes, double jumps, and healing

on kills. Boss-drop gear that stacks into your build. A

prestige system that carries between runs. The deeper you go,

the deeper it gets.

FIND YOUR STYLE

The galaxy is full of things shooting at you.

Send it all back.
