About This Game

Desperate Journey Into the Unknown

You are Aurelius, a former priest who receives a mysterious letter from the abbey. Something has gone terribly wrong. The abbey and the lands around it have been taken over by a dark force.

Your goal is to reach the abbey and find out what happened.

The journey will not be easy. You start with almost nothing: a lantern, a few bandages, and a small amount of oil. You need to explore, manage your resources, avoid enemies, and find a way through the corrupted lands.

Scavenge to Survive

The road to the Abbey is not a straight path. You will have to leave the main route and explore different areas to find oil, bandages, and other useful items.

  • Abandoned Places

Explore old houses, buildings, and settlements. Search rooms, and locked areas for supplies. But be careful — enemies can be hiding inside.

  • Underground Areas and Ruins

Explore underground rooms, caves, and old ruins. These areas are darker and more difficult to navigate. Their different layouts and levels also affect how enemies find and chase you.

  • Forests and Open Areas

Move through forests, fields, and other outdoor areas. Sound is important here. Running, stepping on branches, or making too much noise can attract enemies.

The Lantern

Your lantern is your most important tool.

You can control how bright it is. A brighter light lets you see more, but it uses more oil. When your oil gets low, your visibility also becomes worse.

The lantern can also change color:

Normal light uses the least oil.

Blue light uses twice as much oil.

Red light uses three times as much oil.

You have to decide when it is worth using more oil to see better or deal with certain enemies.

Different Lantern Colors

Later in the game, you will meet a mysterious Witch who can unlock different lantern colors.

Different colors affect different creatures. Some enemies can be repelled by certain colors, while others can only be seen or damaged when exposed to a specific type of light.

Some creatures are invisible until you use the correct light.

Ancient Prayers

While exploring, you can find old books containing forgotten prayers.

These prayers give you special abilities, but they cannot simply be used anywhere. You need to find specific locations where they can affect the environment.

For example, a prayer can:

Open a hidden room.

Create a protective barrier around an area.

Remove corruption from a location.

Change parts of the environment.

These abilities have cooldowns, so you need to choose when to use them.

Sound and Light

Enemies behave differently depending on what they can detect.

Some enemies react mainly to sound. Opening doors, running, or making other noises can attract them.

Other enemies react to light. They may only be able to see you when your lantern is on.

Sometimes the safest thing to do is turn off your lantern, stop moving, and wait for the enemy to leave.

Combat

Combat is limited and dangerous.

You have an axe that can be used to defend yourself, but it is not meant to be a powerful weapon that lets you fight everything. You will often be better off hiding, running, or avoiding enemies instead of fighting them.

Discover What Happened

As you explore the world, you will find letters, dolls, books, and other objects connected to the Abbey.

These items slowly reveal what happened to the priests who lived there and how the corruption began.

The further you get, the more you learn about the Abbey, the creatures around it, and the reason Aurelius was called back.

The main goal is simple: survive the journey, reach the Silent Abbey, and discover the truth.
