The gathering tempest of World War III expands to the Latin American tropics in WARNO - Tropic Storm. Here too, as in Europe, the capitalist Western Bloc and communist Eastern Bloc plan to open a completely new theatre of war, with old and new allies alike.

When Venezuelan protests are mercilessly crushed in the spring of 1989, a covertly funded communist-backed coup by Hugo Chavéz seizes power. Blindsided by the revolution, the United States initially seeks to contain the new socialist regime through a powerful anti-communist regional alliance formed with Brazil and Colombia.


However, with war looming in Europe, and shocking new intel pointing to direct involvement of the Soviet Union and Castro’s Cuba, Washington decides to act. The communist threat in America’s backyard must be dealt with in an overwhelming pre-emptive strike.

WARNO - Tropic Storm expansion introduces a brand-new theatre of war, giving access to 6 new divisions, 4 new nations, 1 new Army General campaign, 8 new tropical maps, and an arsenal of new units, weapons, models, and more.

• NATO-aligned: the U.S. 4th Marine Division, the U.S. 7th Infantry Division (Light) backed by Colombian troops, and the Brazilian 3ª Divisão de Exército.
  
• Warsaw Pact-aligned: the Venezuelan I División and IV División, plus the Cuban 1a División de Tanques backed by the Soviet Brigade in Cuba.
  
• Four new nations: Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil, and Colombia.
  
• Eight new battlefields inspired by real-life Cuban locations: From the massive Cienfuegos refinery to the Bahia coastline and tropical countryside of Alquizar. Only owners of WARNO - Tropic Storm will be able to host battles featuring the new maps, though non-owners will be able to play, including on official servers.
  
  
  
  
• One new Army General campaign: Cuba Libre features an U.S. expeditionary invasion of Cuba, spearheaded by the USMC, set to topple communist Cuba once and for all.
  
  
  
  
• An arsenal of new units, models, and weapons. These include the AC-130H SPECTRE gunship, the anti-air AML-530S, ASTROS II MLRS, EE-9 CASCAVEL heavy armored car, GAZ-69 jeep, A-1 GHIBLI ground-attack aircraft, X1 PIONEIRO recon tank, Cuban modified T-34s in various roles, LARS-160 MLRS, SEA COBRA attack helicopter, and many more.

U.S. 4th Marine Division

This United States Marine Corp’s reserve division would activate for war-time duty in the Carribean, and brings units such as the LCAC heavy supply hovercraft, USMC FAST squads, the heavy USMC M1A1(HA) ABRAMS main battle tank, NAVY SEAL RECON scouts, and A-4M SKYHAWK ground-attack aircraft.

U.S. 7th Infantry Division (Light)

Tasked with keeping a close watch on Latin America, this American light division would deploy together with a sizable Colombian contingent. Units featured include AC-130 gunships in various configurations, CIA-operated OH-6 QUIET ONE stealth helicopters, KFIR C.2 fighters, M8 Greyhound in various roles, plus Colombian VOLTIGEROS & COMANDOS TERRESTRES infantry squads.

Brazilian 3ª Divisão de Exército

Part of the United States coalition, the heavy Brazilian division deployed with a host of domestic-made equipment from EE-9 heavy armored car, EE-11 APCs, ASTROS II MLRS, M41C CAXIAS light and X1 PIONEIRO recon tanks, HM-1 PANTERA helicopters, and T-26 XAVANTE ground-attack aircraft.

Venezuelan I División

This Venezuelan division was heavily reinforced with naval infantry, fielding the DRAGOON 300 LVF2 90mm armored cars, World War II-era HELLCAT light tanks and their upgraded SUPER HELLCAT successor, MAPATS ATGM, INFANTERÍA DE MARINA & COMANDOS DE MAR naval infantry, LARS-160 MLRS, plus B.212ASW attack helicopter with AS.12 missiles.

Venezuelan IV División

Deploying with the Venezuelan Army’s armored brigade and elite airborne troops, this central reserve battlegroup was ready to reinforce any allied unit with its CANBERRA bombers, AMX-30V tanks, AML-530S SPAAGs, V-150 COMMANDO armored cars, and PARACAIDISTAS.

Cuban 1a División de Tanques

Communist Cuba’s only armored division could count on an eclectic mix of equipment, further backed by the local Soviet Brigade. This means the availability of the T-62 Obr. 67 and Obr. 72, AVISPAS NEGRAS special forces, BM-20 MLRS, C-AP-T-122 and C-AP-T-130 artillery and C-AP-MP-T-100 (SPAAG) modified T-34s, plus MiG-21F-13 light fighter.

Each unique WARNO - Tropic Storm division is fully customizable, and can be taken to war in WARNO’s single-player Skirmish, Ranked, and online Multiplayer.
