About This Game

Organic Evolution is a neon-themed platformer set in an underwater microcosm. You play as a tiny, one-eyed organism who must navigate procedurally generated levels, finding keys and reaching the exit.

Controls:

A, D, or left/right arrow keys — move left and right. Spacebar — jump. You can jump multiple times in the air (the number of available jumps is displayed on the top bar). W or up arrow — break a block above you and jump. S or down arrow — break a block below you. ESC — menu, P — pause.

Key mechanics:

Multiple jumps in the air. The character has a statutory jump reserve (5 in normal mode, 10 in Explorer mode). This allows you to leap large gaps and climb high platforms. Jumps are restored upon landing.

Block destruction. Some blocks in the level can be broken by pressing up or down. Coins may be hidden behind them. Broken blocks regenerate after a while.

Keys and the door. In each level, you need to find a key (a glowing golden flower). When the key is found, an indicator on the panel lights up, and you can enter the exit (vortex). Without the key, the exit is blocked.

Spores (shields). For every 2,000 points, a shield spore is automatically added (maximum 10). The shield absorbs one enemy hit. After a hit, the shield disappears and grants short-term invulnerability. The number of spores is displayed in the top panel.

Extra Lives. For every 25,000 points, one life is restored (maximum 10).

When killed by an enemy, the enemy is destroyed along with the player, and they respawn on the spot.

Enemies:

Jellyfish - float in the air, moving along sinusoidal paths. Runners - one-eyed creatures with legs, patrolling platforms. If you break a block beneath them, they fall and die. Snails - slow creatures with a shell and spikes, also patrol platforms and are vulnerable to falling. Starfish - rotating creatures with three eyes, flying along paths. Pulsars - appear and disappear, dangerous in the active phase. Toxic Algae are static hazards on the floor.

Destroying enemies drops gem crystals, which can be collected for extra points.

Game Modes:

Classic — a standard playthrough of 8 levels of increasing difficulty. 5 mid-air jumps.

Explorer — extended levels (double the map's height), 10 mid-air jumps, and the goal is to find 5 keys on each level instead of just one.

Extreme — same as Classic, but visibility is limited by a circle of light around the player. The rest of the level is immersed in darkness. Keys and the exit glow faintly.

HUD (top panel):

Hearts — health (maximum 10).

LVL — current level.

JUMP — remaining mid-air jumps.

SPORES — number of shields.

KEY — whether a key has been collected (or the key counter in Explorer).

SCORE — points earned.

The bar under the score indicates progress to the next level. Shield Spores.

Features:

Neon visual style on a dark background with a hexagonal grid. 8 unique color themes for each level. Procedural level generation. Three game modes. Shield system earned with points. Destructible environment with block regeneration. Hidden coins in blocks. Several enemy types with different behavior patterns. Crystals dropped by enemies. Progress saving. Steam integration (achievements and leaderboards). Atmospheric soundtrack.
