What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core systems of the game—combat, party formation, dungeon exploration, and the final boss battle—are complete, and the game can be played from start to finish. However, balance adjustments, additional content, and UI/UX improvements are still ongoing. We chose Early Access because we believe the best path forward is to put the game into players' hands early and refine it together based on their feedback.

This game also incorporates a number of experimental elements that step outside conventional genre boundaries, including a semi-real-time system, parties that act autonomously, and multiple NPC parties exploring the dungeon simultaneously. We want to see how these elements are received by actual players and use that insight to keep improving the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate Early Access to last between six months and one year. The exact duration may vary depending on the volume of player feedback, the progress of balance adjustments, and the pace of additional content development.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access, we plan to incorporate player feedback while working on the following improvements and additions:

・Ongoing balance adjustments for combat, equipment, and ranks
・Exploring the addition of new classes, enemy species, and dungeon structures
・UI/UX refinements, including controls and message presentation
・Expanded tutorials and in-game help
・Broader language support

These are our current plans, and the priorities and specific implementations may shift based on feedback from the community.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The following elements are implemented in the Early Access version, and the game can be played from start to finish:

・Combat system: semi-real-time progression, role-based gameplay across seven classes, autonomous party behavior, and command directives
・Party formation: party composition of up to eight members, with the ability to recruit NPCs
・Dungeon exploration: multi-floor dungeons, encounters with multiple NPC parties, equipment pickup and distribution
・Final battle: confrontation with the demon lord at the deepest floor
・Save and load functionality

The game already offers a complete experience at this stage, but we plan to continue balance adjustments and UI/UX refinements throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, we plan to increase the price when the game leaves Early Access and reaches its official release. As a way of thanking players who supported development during Early Access, we would like to offer the game at a more accessible price during this period.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We welcome player feedback through the Steam Community Hub and reviews, and we will use it as a key reference for development. If you share bug reports, suggestions for improvement, or requests for new content, we plan to reflect them in balance adjustments and updates according to priority.

We also plan to share regular updates on development progress and adjustments through Steam News and similar channels.”

About This Game

Command your party. Conquer the dungeon together.

Rally the Parties is a semi-real-time tactical RPG where time only flows while your active character is acting. You direct the battle through high-level orders, and your party members act autonomously based on their assigned policies. You can switch between characters at any time to take direct control of any role.
Melee, ranged, support, lockdown, flanking — seven character classes each bring unique combat techniques, and your tactical options shift dramatically depending on how you combine them. Orchestrating synergy between party members is the key to success.

Features

  • Semi-real-time combat: Time only advances while your character is acting — a distinctive system that lets you think carefully before committing to your next move.
  • Seven classes, seven roles: Swordfighter, Axe Warrior, Scout, Archer, Fire Mage, Water Mage, and Healer. Each has its own attack range and special abilities, and the way you mix them reshapes your strategy.
  • Lead through directives: Issue party-wide orders such as Attack, Defend, Rally, or Retreat. Your companions interpret your intent and act on their own judgment.
  • Recruit and expand: Talk to NPCs you encounter in the dungeon and build a party of up to eight. Different combinations open up entirely different approaches.
  • Multiple parties exploring at once: You're not the only group in the dungeon — several NPC parties roam and explore on their own. Sometimes you cooperate, sometimes you compete; their presence gives the adventure life and unpredictability.
  • Roguelike stakes: One defeat ends the run. Every attempt invites you to rethink your party, equipment, and tactics on the path to the Demon Lord at the deepest floor.

Origins

In my youth, I was struck by Ali Baba (Starcraft, 1985) — an RPG where you switched between multiple characters as you played — and was further captivated by the arcade game Gain Ground (Sega, 1988), which built its design around the strategic use of distinct characters with unique abilities. That sense of fascination has never faded.
In the years since, tactical RPGs and MMORPGs flourished, and games featuring parties of cooperating characters became commonplace. But none of them quite captured what I was looking for. The ideal game system remained a recurring daydream — never something that felt within reach to actually build.
Then came the recent rise of generative AI, which suddenly made it possible for an individual to produce a game at a quality previously requiring a full studio. Sensing that this might be the last opportunity to bring a long-held idea to life, I finally began development. Rally the Parties is the result.

Who this game is for / About Early Access

This game is made for players who:
  • Enjoy game systems built around strategically managing multiple characters
  • Are drawn to experimental games that step outside familiar genre conventions
  • Are looking for a gameplay experience they haven't had before
Rally the Parties launches in Early Access. The core combat system, party formation, dungeon exploration, and the full path to the Demon Lord battle are all in place — even now, the game offers a complete, self-contained experience. Ongoing balance refinement, additional content, and UI/UX improvements are planned. Please see the "About This Early Access Game" section below for details.
