Why Early Access?

“VOID RUNNER's foundation — its arcade feel, its skill-tree depth, its 5 starter worlds — is solid enough to release publicly. But the directions we'll take from here remain intentionally open: which new world themes deserve to be built, which new skill archetypes to design, what kind of boss mechanics players want to face, how aggressive the balance should be — none of this is set in stone. As a solo developer, I want the community to co-author the roadmap rather than receive a finished product. Discord polls, in-game feedback, and Steam events will drive concrete decisions: every Early Access update will reflect what players asked for, not what was planned in isolation. Early Access isn't QA for us — it's where the game grows beyond what one person can imagine alone.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan an Early Access period of approximately 3 to 6 months. This duration may evolve based on the pace of content additions and the priorities raised by the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to enrich the game across several axes during Early Access: new bosses with unique mechanics for world endings, new worlds with their own enemies, atmospheres and challenges, new skills and new evolution tiers (T6+), new music tracks in the synthwave style of the original soundtrack, continuous gameplay polish and balancing based on feedback, additional accessibility improvements if the community expresses needs. We also intend to expand Infinite Mode with new difficulty milestones and new meta-progression, and to work progressively on visual and sound polish.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“VOID RUNNER's Early Access version offers a complete playable foundation, with active development ongoing. Currently playable: 5 campaign worlds with 30+ hand-crafted levels, Infinite Mode with persistent meta-upgrades up to Inferno W50+, 28 skills with a T1–T5 evolution tree, global and local leaderboards per world, original synthwave soundtrack by VeryBadMusic, accessibility options (high contrast, colorblind proto/deutero/trito, Discovery Mode), full Steam integration (Cloud Save, 20 achievements, overlay), 10 interface languages, support for keyboard+mouse, Xbox/PS controllers, and Steam Deck. What's deliberately open: which new world themes get built, which new boss mechanics get designed, which new skill archetypes ship, how the next balance pass tilts — all of this will be shaped during Early Access through community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to modestly increase the price upon the transition to the final version, to reflect the content added during Early Access. Players who purchased the game during Early Access will automatically keep all future updates at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Several channels are in place: an official Discord server for live discussion, run sharing, suggestions, bug reports and direct exchanges with the developer; an in-game feedback form accessible from the menu without leaving the session; a public, detailed changelog in the game and on Steam with every update; regular update announcements on the Steam hub and Discord to communicate ongoing work. Our goal is for players to see their feedback concretely taken into account in upcoming iterations.
