What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Inertia 2: Definitive Edition is built and playable from day one - 30 official levels at launch, a full level creator, Steam Workshop, and leaderboards are all live at Early Access launch.

We're entering Early Access to build out the community and ultimately shape and fine-tune the game; incorporating player feedback on level design and movement tuning to ensure the game is truly complete before 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate approximately 3-6 months in Early Access; targeting a 1.0 release in early 2027. This timeline may shift based on community feedback and Workshop growth.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand Inertia 2: Definitive Edition based directly on community feedback gathered during Early Access. Our current intentions include additional official levels built around community and speedrunning feedback; further refinements to the movement system based on player data and discussion; and improvements to the level creator and editor toolset based on how the Workshop community uses them in practice.

We may also explore additional gameplay elements and features as the community develops. We want players to help shape what the definitive version of this game looks like.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Inertia 2: Definitive Edition launches into Early Access as a complete, polished experience. Available from day one are 30 official levels; a refined and complete movement system; full PC controls including mouse sensitivity tuning, key rebinding, and FOV options; the full in-game level creator with the complete element and geometry palette; full Steam Workshop integration allowing community levels to be shared and downloaded without leaving the game; and Steam Leaderboards with anti-cheat measures across all official levels.

This is not a partial build. It is a complete game entering Early Access to grow alongside its community.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to increase the price slightly when we leave Early Access; reflecting the additional content, improvements, and expanded Workshop library built throughout the Early Access period. Players who support development during Early Access will receive the best price permanently. We want to reward the early adopters who help shape the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is central to how we develop Inertia 2: Definitive Edition.

Steam Workshop is live from day one; levels created during Early Access carry forward to 1.0, meaning the community begins building the content library immediately. We plan to actively monitor Steam forums and community feedback; hold discussions around movement tuning and level design direction; feature standout Workshop levels in official playlists, and more.

We want players to feel that their time spent with the game during Early Access directly shapes what 1.0 becomes.”

About This Game

Inertia 2: Definitive Edition is the next chapter from the creator of Inertia - a first-person platformer built entirely around fluid, refined movement mechanics.

Nine years on, the foundation that made Inertia resonate with players is back - smoother, deeper, and complete from day one.

Move. Inertia 2: Definitive Edition is built on a refined and evolved movement system - wall-runs, platforming, and fluid traversal that rewards mastery without punishing newcomers. Whether you're here to play casually or chase world records, the movement adapts to your playstyle.

Create. Build your own levels with a full in-game level creator. Place every element and geometry feature found in the official levels - jump pads, wall-runs, elevators, rising platforms, horizontal movement platforms, and material-editable geometry across a curated set of surfaces. No external tools, no complexity - just build and play.

Compete. Steam Leaderboards with anti-cheat measures put your times on the board from day one. Every official level; every community level - compete, compare, and chase the top spot. The speedrun community has a home here from launch.

Workshop. Share your levels with the world through full Steam Workshop integration. Browse, subscribe, and play community-created levels without leaving the game. The Workshop is live from Early Access - meaning the community is already building by the time 1.0 arrives.

The Definitive Edition difference. The original Inertia earned its community over time - Workshop support, leaderboards, and the level creator all arrived at 1.0. Inertia 2: Definitive Edition launches with all of it. Every feature, from day one.
