What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Tenebrix is built around systems that thrive on iteration—deckbuilding depth, class identity, and emergent dungeon encounters. Early Access allows us to refine these systems with real player feedback, ensuring the game evolves into a deeply strategic and replayable experience.

We want the community to help shape balance, discover powerful synergies, and influence the direction of new content—from cards and enemies to progression systems and events.

If you enjoy being part of a game’s development and helping define its future, now is the perfect time to descend.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Tenebrix to remain in Early Access for approximately 6–12 months. This timeline allows us to expand core systems, add content, and refine balance based on player feedback.

Development pace may adjust as we iterate with the community, but our goal is to deliver a fully polished and content-rich experience at full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Tenebrix is planned to significantly expand on the foundation established during Early Access, with deeper systems, more content, and a more polished overall experience.

Planned improvements include:

A much larger card pool with expanded archetypes and stronger class identity
Additional enemies, elite encounters, and unique boss fights
More dungeon variety, events, and environmental interactions
Expanded camp progression with new structures and upgrade paths
A deeper forging system with more complex card combinations and long-term progression
Narrative elements and worldbuilding woven into progression and exploration
Improved visuals, animations, audio, and overall polish

Throughout Early Access, we’ll be refining balance, pacing, and progression based on player feedback to ensure the full release delivers a strategic, rewarding, and highly replayable experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Tenebrix features a fully playable core experience, with the foundational systems in place for dungeon exploration, combat, and progression.

Players can complete full runs through procedurally generated dungeons, build and adapt their decks, and engage in tactical 3-lane combat using multiple starting classes (Warden, Gravebinder, Penitent, and Shade). The Fear system is active, influencing both difficulty and visibility as players progress deeper into the dungeon.

The camp hub is functional with early progression systems, and core mechanics like card discovery and deckbuilding are implemented.

That said, Tenebrix is still actively in development. Content is currently limited, balance is ongoing, and many systems—such as expanded card pools, advanced forging, additional encounters, and narrative elements—are still in progress.

Players may encounter bugs, placeholder visuals, and areas that will continue to evolve over time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. Tenebrix is planned to be offered at a lower price during Early Access, with a price increase at full release as more content, systems, and polish are added.

Early supporters will receive the game at a reduced price in recognition of their role in helping shape its development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play a key role in shaping Tenebrix throughout Early Access. We’ll be actively listening to player experiences, balance feedback, and suggestions to guide development priorities.

Players will be able to share feedback through Steam discussions and community channels, helping us refine core systems like combat balance, card design, class identity, and progression. We also plan to iterate quickly—testing changes, adjusting based on feedback, and expanding the game in ways that reflect how people actually play.

Our goal is to build Tenebrix alongside its players, ensuring the full release is shaped by the strategies, discoveries, and ideas of the community.”

About This Game

Tenebrix (Early Access)

A Strategic Card Conquest Through a Living Dungeon

Descend into Tenebrix, a shifting dungeon where every step forward is a risk—and every hesitation makes the darkness stronger.

Build your deck. Command your creatures. Survive the descent.

Tenebrix is a dark fantasy roguelike deckbuilder where you explore procedurally generated dungeons, uncover powerful cards, and forge your strategy in real time. Combat unfolds across three tactical lanes where positioning, timing, and synergy determine survival.

But the deeper you go, the dungeon begins to fight back.

A creeping Fear system punishes indecision—empowering enemies, shrinking your vision, and turning the dungeon itself into your greatest enemy. Push forward, or be consumed.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

AI tools were used as part of the development process for Tenebrix, primarily to assist with early concept exploration, visual ideation, and asset prototyping. These tools helped accelerate iteration during the design phase, allowing for rapid testing of themes, compositions, and stylistic direction.

All AI-assisted content was reviewed, refined, and integrated manually to ensure consistency with the game’s vision and quality standards. Final assets, gameplay systems, and overall design were shaped through hands-on development and creative direction.

AI was used as a tool to support development—not as a replacement for it.
