A boy's village was burned. His people were killed. Years later, he returns — with an army of monsters. But the king he hunts is nothing like his father. He is just. He is loved. He will not fall without a fight. Two campaigns. One tragedy.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Revenge & Defend has two sides — one player defends a castle, the other commands the attacking monsters. Right now both sides are playable against a computer opponent. Our goal is to connect two real players against each other for competitive 1v1 matches. We want to ship what we have, get people playing, and build toward that PvP experience together with the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 3 to 6 months. During Early Access we will release the 1v1 PvP beta and keep tuning until it feels great.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full release will have online 1v1 PvP as its main mode. We already have both the Defender Campaign and the Attacker Campaign fully playable. Now we want to connect two real players against each other. Along the way we will adjust mechanics, tweak balance, and add content based on what the community tells us actually works in competitive play.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Both Defender and Attacker campaigns are fully playable against a computer opponent. The game has 3 monster types, tiered towers with an elemental system, a working economy, hero abilities, and a full round structure. It is stable and fun — this is a real game, not a prototype. The only missing piece is PvP — playing against a real human opponent instead of a computer.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, we plan to raise the price when we leave Early Access. The full release will include online PvP which comes with server and infrastructure costs to keep matches running smoothly. Early Access is the best time to get in at the lowest price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will be active on the Steam forums and read everything. Balance feedback especially matters to us — PvP balance is nearly impossible to get right without real players. Bug reports, mechanic suggestions, ideas for new content — all of it helps. This game is made by a single developer and your feedback will directly shape how it develops.”

About This Game

THE STORY

A poor village could not pay the king's taxes. The king sent soldiers. They burned everything. A boy was taken — meant to die as a warning. But something awakened in him. Something dark.

He survived. His village did not.

Years passed. The boy grew. He learned to control the darkness inside him, to call monsters from the wild, to lead them. And now he marches on the kingdom.

But the king he hunts is not the man who gave that order. The old king is dead. His son took the throne — and spent every day since trying to undo his father's sins. He is just. He is loved by his people. He will not surrender.

Neither side is evil. Both sides will fight to the last.

TWO CAMPAIGNS. TWO PERSPECTIVES.

Defender — Command the kingdom's defenses. Build and upgrade towers across the battlefield. Manage your gold, repair towers and the castle when needed. Hold the castle gates against wave after wave of monsters. Seven levels of escalating siege.

Attacker — Lead the monster army. Spend mana to spawn Grunts, Tanks, and Strikers. Upgrade your command stations, buff your forces, and use your hero's dark abilities to break the defense. Seven levels of escalating assault.

GAMEPLAY

Defender Hero
  • Towers — Build and upgrade through three tiers. Assign Ice, Poison, or Fire to each tower to counter the monsters pouring through.
  • Defense stations — Archers guard the castle gate, Cannons cover the entire battlefield. Together they form a second line of defense behind your towers.
  • Stable & Saddlery — Upgrade the Stable to increase your hero's horse speed, or the Saddlery to expand his gold carrying capacity.
  • Repair — Keep your towers and castle standing under relentless assault.

Attacker Hero
  • Monster army — Spend mana to spawn Grunts, Tanks, and Strikers. Different speeds, different HP, different roles on the battlefield.
  • Mana pool — Manage your mana carefully. Every spawn costs resources. Overspend and your assault stalls.
  • Spawn rate — The longer the battle goes, the faster your monsters pour in. Pressure builds with time.
  • Upgrade Stations — Upgrade your Mana Well for faster mana regeneration, push your spawn rate higher to flood the battlefield, or unlock new monster types to add Tanks and Strikers to your army.
  • Buff Shrines — Activate Buff Shrines to empower your monsters before they charge into battle.
  • Dark abilities — Use your hero's dark magic to overwhelm the defense at the right moment.
  • AI opponent — A full AI controls the opposite side in both campaigns, putting up a real fight.

EARLY ACCESS

Revenge & Defend launches with two full campaigns and a complete single-player experience. 1v1 PvP — a real human Defender facing a real human Attacker — is coming after launch. As the game evolves during Early Access, significant balance or mechanic changes may require mission progress to be reset. We will always communicate this clearly before it happens.
