About This Game

A living online RPG where economy, progression and world events shape your journey.

A World That Moves – With or Without You

Guilds of Mountgate is a browser-based online RPG set in a connected, persistent world where systems matter more than spectacle.

Travel between cities, ports, forests and mines.
Watch markets shift.
Build your character over time.

And most importantly:

Live in a world that doesn't wait for you.

Prices change. Supplies run dry. Events unfold.
What you do — and when you do it — matters.

Build Your Character, Your Way

Progress through a wide range of skills, each with its own depth and progression:

  • Woodcutting

  • Mining

  • Fishing

  • Survival

  • Smithing

  • Crafting

  • Cooking

Unlock new resources, tools and production tiers as you level.

Higher skill doesn’t just mean faster progress — it means smarter, more efficient gameplay:

  • Multi-yield systems (2x / 3x resources)

  • Better materials, better outputs

  • New opportunities across the world

Gather, Craft, Progress

The world is built on a fully data-driven resource system:

  • Location-based resources

  • Unique drop tables

  • Progression tied to skill and equipment

Turn raw materials into valuable goods:

  • Smelt ore into bars

  • Craft tools and equipment

  • Prepare food for survival and profit

Every item has a place in the economy.

A Living Economy

This isn’t a static market.

Each city has:

  • its own production focus

  • supply and demand

  • import/export pressure

Prices react to:

  • player trading

  • regional production

  • world events

Buy low. Sell high. Or take the risk and wait.

Dynamic World Events

The world changes — constantly.

Events impact regions in real time:

  • Trade disruptions

  • Weather changes

  • Resource shortages

  • Accidents and incidents

Each event evolves through phases:

  • Impact

  • Stabilization

  • Aftermath

  • Recovery

A ship sinks? Resources that were aboard become scarce.
Markets react. Players adapt.

The world tells its own stories — and you are part of them.

Travel & Explore

Move across a connected world map with real travel times.

  • Plan your routes

  • Choose your destinations

  • React to opportunities

Every location offers something different:

  • resource hotspots

  • production hubs

  • NPC services

  • questlines

NPCs, Quests & Interaction

Talk to NPCs. Make choices. Take on work.

  • Dialogue-based interactions

  • Quest system tied to world and progression

  • Trading, services and more

Idle-Friendly, But Never Empty

Play actively — or let the world run.

  • AFK-friendly progression

  • optional active moments (bonus ticks, procs)

  • real-time feedback through session tracking

You’re never forced to grind actively.
But if you do — you’ll be rewarded.

Light Social Layer

  • Local city chat

  • Global chat

  • System messages and world updates

Enough to feel connected.
Not enough to overwhelm.

Planned Features & Future Expansion

Guilds of Mountgate is actively evolving, with major systems already in development and planned to expand the game step by step.

This includes:

  • PvE & PvP combat with diverse builds

  • Guild systems with shared progression, which include:

  • Caravan trading and long-distance economy

  • Naval trade routes and interaction with foreign factions

  • Worker systems for automated production and economic support

In addition, new skills with unique mechanics will be introduced over time, gradually expanding the gameplay and opening up new ways to interact with the world.

The game will also move beyond pure UI-driven interactions in selected areas:

Planned playable story quests will place you into fully interactive 2D scenes, featuring classic point & click gameplay, environmental interaction and small handcrafted narratives that bring the world closer on a more personal level.

Housing will follow a similar approach, allowing you to create and expand your own space in a visually represented 2D environment, with customizable interiors and functional benefits such as resting, storage and bonuses.

These systems are designed to grow alongside the core gameplay — adding depth, variety and new perspectives over time without breaking the foundation of the game.

Part of a Bigger World

Guilds of Mountgate is not a standalone experience.

It is part of a larger, evolving universe that has been in continuous development for over a year.

What begins as a local journey between towns and trade routes will gradually unfold into something much bigger.

New regions. New systems. New connections.

This is not a single adventure.
It is part of a larger journey.

Why Guilds of Mountgate?

Because it focuses on what many games ignore:

  • Systems over spectacle

  • Decisions over reflexes

  • A world that exists beyond the player

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Guilds of Mountgate currently uses AI-generated visual assets during Early Access, primarily for environmental backgrounds and UI-related imagery.

All assets are individually selected and refined to ensure visual consistency within the game world.

This approach allows development to focus on the core systems that define the game — including progression, economy and world simulation.

As development continues, many of these assets — especially location backgrounds — are planned to be replaced with handcrafted, pre-rendered 3D scenes created in Blender for the full release (v1.0).
