Walk a darker Brazil and uncover the creatures its folklore keeps in the deep forest, monsters most players have never seen. A roguelike deckbuilder: summon spirits onto a four-lane ritual board, sacrifice your own to pay for what comes next, and seal each one into your grimoire.

About This Game

There are worse things than dying. Some of them offer a second chance.

Obscurium is a roguelike deckbuilder set in a Brazil you have never been shown, a darker one.

You build a deck of rituals and fight the creatures of Brazilian folklore, one card at a time.

Lose a fight and the run ends. You start over with nothing but what you learned.

Unfold the map the last hunter left behind and pick where to go next. Every stop is an event, or something worse wearing a stranger's face. Cross a country large enough to keep a different set of legends in every region, each with its own way of killing you.

Hunt what the stories warn about. The Pisadeira, who sits on the chest of anyone who falls asleep on a full stomach. The Capelobo, part man and part anteater, that opens a skull to drink what is inside. The Caboclo d'Água, who tips your canoe on the river and waits underneath.

Lay a card down in one of four lanes and the creature answers with one of its own. Every summon is paid for with a card already on the table, so every strong play opens a hole somewhere else on your line.

Every hit that lands on the creature lights one of ten Sealing Runes. Light all ten and its soul is sealed into your grimoire, out of the world for good. Let it hit you too often and it is your candle that burns down instead.

Everything you seal goes into the grimoire, and so does everything that killed you. Lose and you lose the deck, the amulets and the ground you covered. The grimoire stays, and you get another shot at your own soul, knowing more than last time.

Setting

Obscurium is a second Brazil laid on top of the real one, darker and meaner. You get there by dying. A figure called the Patrono meets you, puts three tools in your hands and offers a deal: hunt what escaped into the world, seal it into your grimoire, and he gives your life back.

The Team

Wild Pepper Games is a small Brazilian indie studio building a game out of the folklore we were told to be afraid of as kids. The Capelobo, the Pisadeira and the Caboclo d'Água were not invented here. They are told across the country, and we went to the source on each of them before turning any into a card. Not all of us came back the same.

THE PACT IS SIGNED. NOW HUNT.
