About This Game

Neon Planet is a top-down open-world RPG with a built-in 25-player online mode.

Farm, fish, craft, fight, and explore across five maps on an alien world. Choose from five playable
species
, align with rival factions, decorate your home, run dungeons, gamble in the casino, and trade in a
fully player-driven economy. Play solo, co-op with friends, or dive into The Neon Drift — a persistent
25-player online mode with a 100-floor mine, competitive combat spire, and player housing.

No DLC. No pay-to-win. No microtransactions. Yes, really.

Stardew Valley meets a neon casino city — with up to 24 friends.

Welcome to Aethon.

You wake up on a strange world. Neon signs hum past dawn in Nexus. The frozen passes of Varketh shift in the wind.
Five factions are watching — wondering if you're a friend, a customer, or a target.

Neon Planet is set on Aethon — a distant world where neon-lit cities glow against a deep alien sky, five
factions compete for dominance, and every season changes what it means to survive. You arrive as an outsider. How you
leave — whether as a merchant, a farmer, a fighter, or a legend — is entirely up to you.

Three Ways to Play

Solo — Single-player on Aethon. Build your home, romance NPCs, run dungeons, master the casino. The whole
single-player game, yours, at your own pace.

Co-op (up to 4 players) — Invite friends through Steam to join your single-player world. Same Aethon, same
story, same NPCs — now with up to three friends along for the ride.

The Neon Drift — Online Mode (up to 25 players) — A separate persistent online world with its own character,
its own player-driven economy, its own 100-floor mine, its own combat spire, and 25 player home plots. Drop in, build
a reputation, log out anytime. No subscription, no monthly fees.

🏠 Build a Home Worth Coming Back To

Move into a starter cabin on the edge of Nexus. Hang neon signs over the doorway. Place a crystal fern by the window.
Furnish the rest with 50+ items — buy from the Nexus Market or craft your own from recipes you collect.
Place trophies from the Spire. Store wine in the cellar. Make it yours.

🌾 Farm, Fish, Cook, Brew

Wake at dawn to water your crops. Plant Tharael wheat in spring, iron root tubers in autumn — over a dozen unique
crops
, each with its own season, water needs, grow time, and yield. Master the Farmer's Almanac to time the
rare planting windows and chase rare seed drops.

Cast a line into Varketh's frozen lakes. Cook your harvest into meals that restore energy and boost stats. Press
grapes into juice and age them into wine through the full winemaking system. Craft tools, weapons, and
furniture at Zik's Workshop.

  • In-season seeds always stocked at Axiom Agri-Systems
  • Off-season seeds available at a premium
  • Rare seeds found in deep caves, fishing, and roaming caravans
  • Full winemaking pipeline: grow → press → age → bottle

💕 NPCs Who Remember You

Meet dozens of NPCs across Aethon — each with their own daily schedules, gift preferences, and personal goals. Help
one out enough times and they'll start saving you the rarest stock. Forget a birthday and they will notice.

Build a friendship into a romance into a marriage. You can take up to two spouses, if both say yes. You can
also get divorced. NPCs remember everything — the small things, and the big ones. Adopt pets that help with farming
and exploration.

⚔️ Combat, Dungeons, and the Things That Hunt You

Get jumped at the edge of Varketh's frozen passes. Track a Leviathan from the cliffs of Sol'Kaia. Push deeper into
procedural dungeons with scaling difficulty across Normal, Hard, and Nightmare. Boss encounters guard
the rarest loot. And if your reputation drops too low with a faction — they will come find you.

Skills That Reward Variety, Not Grinding

Mining. Combat. Farming. Fishing. Cooking. Crafting. Every action you take builds a skill that unlocks new recipes,
faster gathering, and rare drops. The Daily Fatigue system gently caps how hard you can grind any one loop in a
single day — so you are rewarded for living a full life on Aethon, not for staring at the same ore vein for fourteen
hours.

Five Factions, One World

The Southlands are divided between five factions, each with their own ideology, leader, and agenda. Build
reputation through trade, gifts, and diplomacy — or make enemies by raiding and siding with their rivals.

  • Solara Prime (Dominion) — Human military-industrial powerhouse
  • Esh-Valoran (Keth-Raal) — Ancient scholars with crystalline knowledge
  • Axiom Station (Synth) — Silicon-mind machine city
  • Mist-Kethara (Vorryn) — Nomadic drifts anchored in the mist
  • Bol'Grathek (Graal) — Iron fortress, 10,000 years of engineering

Reach 85+ reputation with a faction to unlock their species for future playthroughs. Five playable races
total
, each with their own bonuses, look, and starting story.

A Living, Breathing World

Five distinct maps — the high-tech Nexus hub, the frozen north of Varketh, the faction-controlled Southlands, the
tropical Sol'Kaia Island, and the war-torn Shattered Frontier. Day turns to night. Seasons shift. Markets open and
close. Trade caravans arrive without warning. Aethon runs on its own clock whether you are watching or not.

Dynamic weather changes the game itself: rain boosts your fishing, storms make the Spire deadlier and the ore
richer, fog hides the road home.

Banking, Trading, and the Long Game

Prices shift by season and faction standing. The Graal Vault bank earns you 2% weekly interest on deposits —
your gold works while you explore. The traveling merchant carries goods you will see nowhere else. The economy moves
whether you do or not.

An Original Soundtrack — All Synthesized, All Yours

Every note in Neon Planet is generated in real time using the Web Audio API — 100% original, procedurally composed,
royalty-free
. 14 dynamic tracks adapt to the time of day, season, and location: synthwave at the Drift, ambient
jazz at the bar, dark orchestral in the Spire.

Built-In Mod Support

Add new items, recipes, NPCs, and translations through simple JSON files. Browse community mods, validate them with a one-click checker, and share your own creations. Modders own everything they make.

🌌 THE NEON DRIFT — A 25-Player Parallel World

Step through the portal into a separate online universe with five interconnected maps, a fully player-driven
economy
, and peer-to-peer hosting — no dedicated servers, no monthly fees. Create a Drift character.
Invite friends through Steam — one click and they auto-join your world.

Five Connected Drift Maps

The Drift (Center Hub)
A neon-lit social city. Full casino with seven games: slots, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, Texas Hold'em,
darts, and Drifter's Luck scratch tickets. Bank with vault storage. Player-to-player Bazaar. Fishing ponds. Notice
board with live leaderboards. No combat — pure social and commerce.

The Mines (North)
Rocky surface ore nodes — and a 100-floor procedural mine shaft descending into the dark.
  • Floors 1-20: Common ores, weak enemies
  • Floors 21-50: Rare ores, traps, moderate enemies
  • Floors 51-80: Exotic materials, darkness mechanic
  • Floors 81-99: Elite enemies, maze layouts
  • Floor 100: Weekly boss with unique loot
  • Elevator checkpoints every 10 floors
  • Death drops 50% of unbanked ores on the floor where you fell. Bank often.

The Workshop (West)
Safe zone with four public crafting stations: Smelter Row (refine ores into bars), Forge Kitchen (cook meals
and buffs), Artisan Hall (craft weapons, tools, furniture), and Brewing Vats (potions and wines). Crafting takes real
time (2-5 minutes) with a live progress overlay. Skill-gated recipes reward specialists.

The Spire (South)
A hostile wasteland surrounding a 20-floor combat castle. Outdoor enemies scale to YOUR combat skill — no
griefing low-level players. Inside the Spire, the run begins:
  • Timer starts at 10 minutes
  • Each floor reduces the timer by 15-25 seconds (based on difficulty)
  • Killing enemies adds 2-10 seconds back
  • Floor 20: The Spire King
  • Timer hits zero = you are teleported out, all Spire loot lost. Try again.
  • Three difficulty modes: Normal, Hard, Nightmare
  • Leaderboard for fastest full clears

The Quarters (East)
A residential district with 25 player home plots on a 5x5 grid. Walk to any plot to visit that player's home.
Your home persists across sessions. Place furniture you crafted at the Workshop and trophies you took from the Spire.

🎰 Seven Casino Games

  • Slot machines — 5 machines, bets from 5 to 100 shards
  • Roulette — red/black, odd/even, number bets up to 36x payout
  • Baccarat — 8 decks, classic Punto Banco rules
  • Blackjack — 6-deck shoe, hit/stand/double/split/insurance
  • Texas Hold'em Poker — 2-6 players, AI or live multiplayer
  • Darts — skill-based aim and power minigame
  • Drifter's Luck Scratch Tickets — instant-win cards with rare jackpot pulls

You can win big. You can also leave with nothing. The shards do not care.

A Real Player-Driven Economy

Mines (raw ores) → Workshop (refined goods) → Bazaar (sell to other players) → Bank (store
gold) → Casino (gamble) → Quarters (buy furniture). Every map feeds the next.

The Bazaar
List items at any price. Other players browse and buy. 5% sale tax keeps shards cycling. No NPC prices — the market
is 100% players.

Direct Trading
Trade face-to-face with split-screen offer windows. Both players confirm before items swap.

Mail System
Send messages and shard attachments to offline players. Delivered on next login.

Built for Friends

  • Steam Friends integration — invite directly, one-click join
  • Player inspection (right-click for skills, gear, records)
  • Party system (up to 4 for Spire runs)
  • Spectator mode — watch your friends' Spire runs live
  • Chat commands (/who, /map, /time, /wave, /dance, /sit, /cheer)
  • Global and map-scoped chat (TAB to toggle)
  • Emote system with custom text
  • Seasonal cosmetics (Spring Blossom Crown, Summer Neon Shades, etc.)
  • Room codes to rejoin the same world

Under the Hood

  • Peer-to-peer hosting: first player becomes host. If they leave, the next longest-connected player takes
over with full world state intact.
  • Auto-reconnection on disconnect
  • Server-side anti-cheat
  • Persistent world saves: host stores room state locally
  • No dedicated server required — runs through a lightweight relay

Find Your Loop

Neon Planet is wide. Most players settle into one of these:

  • The Farmer — perfect crop rotations, master the winemaking pipeline, never miss a season
  • The Tycoon — corner the Bazaar, run the bank, move shards faster than the market
  • The Spire Climber — push the leaderboard, chase the Spire King on Nightmare
  • The Romantic — befriend everyone, marry up to two, remember every birthday
  • The Gambler — work the casino floor, master the odds, lose anyway sometimes
  • The Modder — build it, share it, watch other players use your work

You don't have to pick. The game runs whichever way you play it.

What's Coming Next

Active development continues after launch. The roadmap grows with the community — the more support Neon Planet gets,
the faster these ship:

  • Cave system expansion — new biomes and rare materials
  • Two signature superpowers per species
  • Pulse Arcade — Astro-Pinball, claw machine, and Japanese-style arcade cabinets
  • A new high-density combat map — PvP or PvE, the community decides
  • A fishing island in the Drift — coastal exploration with rare catches
  • More original music — new biome and event themes

A large content expansion is already drafted for v2 if the community supports it. All updates free.

A Note from the Developer

Neon Planet started as a personal project — one developer, a game I wanted to play but could not find anywhere else. A cozy farming RPG set in a neon sci-fi world. Real faction politics. A living economy. A world that felt alive even
when I was not looking.

If you have ideas, drop them in the Steam forums. I read every post. Even the angry ones.
