About This Game

Devils is a short narrative strategy game set in a stylized version of Barcelona. You manage a team of devils, send them across the city to negotiate with humans, and convince them to sell after life labor in exchange of the object of their desire.

You get a small cut on each deal and have one month to erase your massive debt.

HOW A DAY OF WORK LOOKS

Each day begins at your headquarters with a small team of three devils.

From a 2D city map, you assign devils to different locations. Each devil has unique strengths and weaknesses, so choosing who goes where affects your chances of success. Once assigned, they travel across the city and begin searching for potential targets.

When humans are found, you choose between three candidates, each with traits and context clues that help guide your decision.

Encounters begin once a target is selected.

You first choose how your devil approaches the human through dialogue options. Successful choices may grant trinkets that modify future outcomes.

You then equip trinkets into a limited set of slots, shaping how upcoming dice rolls behave.

Negotiations unfold through a sequence of dice rolls, each one requiring a threshold to succeed. Early rolls influence the terms of the deal, how many years of soul are exchanged and what rewards are gained, while the final roll determines whether the contract is accepted or fails.

Between rolls, short dialogue events can appear, offering additional choices that may alter modifiers and outcomes.

Success or failure directly affects both your overall debt and your devils’ progression.

Throughout the day, you can also assign devils to special map events to gain rewards, risks, or additional trinkets.

Each day lasts around 15 minutes.

At the end of the day, you are ranked based on how many soul years you managed to collect.

BREAK ROOM

Between days, you return to the break room to interact with your devils and purchase upgrades.

Each devil has unique abilities that directly influence dice mechanics, allowing you to build different strategies over time.

NIGHT HUNT

At night, the same system is used in a different context.

Instead of negotiating with humans, you hunt unstable creatures that threaten Hell’s operations. These encounters follow the same dice-based structure, but focus on combat and elimination. Failure results in penalties that carry into the next day.
