What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We’re using Early Access because FOAMGRAVE is a systems-driven multiplayer sandbox, and player feedback is essential to shaping the experience.

While the core gameplay is already in place, we want players to actively participate in refining balance, progression, and overall game feel. Early Access allows us to gather real world feedback, identify issues, and iterate quickly while continuing development.
Our goal is to build the game alongside the community, improving it over time based on how players actually play, not just internal testing.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect FOAMGRAVE to remain in Early Access until late 2026 or potentially into 2027.
The exact duration will depend on development progress, feature expansion, and ensuring the game reaches a stable and polished state. Our priority is to improve quality and content at a sustainable pace rather than rush to a final release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes the core gameplay loop and multiplayer experience, but we plan to significantly expand the game over time.

We plan to:

Introduce additional ships and customization options
Expand the world with new locations, towns, and points of interest
Add more trade routes and economic depth
Expand ship upgrades and progression systems
Continue improving balance, performance, and stability

Overall, the full version is intended to offer a larger, deeper, and more polished experience, while staying true to the core sandbox gameplay established in Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of FOAMGRAVE is fully playable and includes its core multiplayer sandbox systems.

Players can:

Play solo or with friends in co-op
Engage in PvP combat with other players
Fight NPC pirates and gather loot
Upgrade and customize their ships
Participate in trading and exploration across the open ocean

The foundation of the game is in place, but it is still actively being improved, expanded, and optimized.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“FOAMGRAVE will enter Early Access as a free-to-play experience, with optional microtransactions for cosmetic items such as skins. We plan to continue supporting the game with cosmetic purchases. As development progresses, we may evaluate additional pricing options for the full release.

Our goal is to keep the game accessible while supporting ongoing development in a fair and sustainable way.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play a key role throughout Early Access.
We plan to:

Actively engage with players through our Discord server
Gather feedback on gameplay systems, balance, and features
Monitor bug reports and prioritize fixes based on player impact
Use community input to help guide future updates and improvements

We want FOAMGRAVE to evolve based on real player experiences, and Early Access is a way for the community to directly influence that process.”

About This Game

🌊 A WORLD WITHOUT LAND

The old world is gone. The water rose until nothing was left above it. No land, no cities, no escape. What remains floats. Scattered settlements, drifting wrecks, and the people stubborn enough to still call this home. You are one of them. You have a boat, a crew, and whatever you can drag up from the deep.

🧭 A CAPTAIN WHO CAN BREAK

Your captain gets hungry, thirsty, and tired, and life on the water wears down their mood over time. Keep them fed, rested, and in good spirits or their focus starts to slip. Decorate your private cabin to lift that mood back up. A captain in high spirits crafts faster and has better odds of pulling off rare results at the bench. Let them fall apart and everything gets slower and harder.

👥 A CREW WORTH KEEPING

You cannot run a boat alone forever. Pull into the floating settlements and take on crew, each one trained in something different. One filters clean water. One hauls in fish. Some speed up your gathering. Others man your weapons and shore up your defenses when the shooting starts. Build the crew that fits the captain you want to be, whether that is a quiet trade runner or a boat built to hunt.

⚓ ONE BOAT, BUILT YOUR WAY

Your boat is your home, your workshop, and your weapon all at once. Start with a bare hull and rebuild it into something that matches how you play. Socket in weapons, defenses, storage, crafting stations, and living space. Every slot is a decision. More guns means less cargo. More stations means less room to fight. For now every captain shapes a single boat, and new hulls are coming after launch.

🔨 CRAFT, SMELT, AND COOK

Everything you need, you make. Mine ore straight from the water with your onboard miner and smelt it into ingots and parts at the furnace. Salvage and gather wood, then run it through the processing bench into planks and higher tier goods. Cook meals at the cooking bench to hold back hunger and thirst, because a starving captain is a slow captain. Turn raw materials into weapon sockets, ammo, and gear, then head back out ready for whatever finds you.

⚔️ FULL LOOT, REAL STAKES

Out here, what you carry is never safe. Cargo, gold, and ammo are all on the line the second another player crests the horizon. Win and take everything they were hauling. Lose and watch your run go down with your boat. Your reputation trails behind you too, shaping how settlements and other captains deal with you. Play it careful or play it cruel. The ocean remembers either way.

🌩️ THE SEA FIGHTS BACK

Other players are only half the danger. Storms roll in with no warning. Pirate crews stalk the trade routes. The water itself will test your boat and your nerve long before anyone else opens fire.

🤝 SOLO, TOGETHER, OR YOUR OWN SEAS

Sail alone, team up with friends online, or host your own server, private or open. The waters are yours to share or defend.

⚠️ EARLY ACCESS

FOAMGRAVE is being built in the open alongside the people who play it. Expect rough edges, balance changes, and plenty of ocean nonsense while we chart the rest of the world. New ships, locations, trade routes, and systems are on the way. Buy it once and it is yours. The only thing for sale beyond that is cosmetic boat skins, and none of it changes how you perform in a fight.
