About This Game

For as long as anyone can remember, the World Crystal kept everything in order: the roads, the rations, even what people would choose to do. Then you arrived, and it shattered.

Through the Shatter is an exploration roguelike about crossing that broken world one region at a time, toward the Crystal you broke. Choose your roads, stretch your food and hearts as far as they'll go, and search every place you stop for a way forward.

If your favourite part of Slay the Spire is staring at the map, and your favourite part of FTL is the events, this game is mostly those parts.

Plan the route

Every road on the map costs food. When the food runs out, the road takes hearts instead, and when the hearts run out, so does the run. The long way round might have exactly what you need. It might also be the walk that finishes you.

Search every stop

Each place opens into its own small map under fog. You get a few steps of stamina before walking starts to cost food, so you choose what to uncover: coins, food, chests, strangers, or a sanctuary that patches you up and hands you a crystal fragment.

See the price before you pay it

On the roads you'll find things like a cart with its back wheels already hanging over the Void. Every choice shows exactly what it costs, and every gamble shows its odds. What you get out of it, you find out after.

Build your run

Chests offer three artifacts and you keep one. Each is a small rule change, and they stack: carry more, see further, turn the damage you take into something you can use. Buy more at the forge, and later find someone who can fuse two artifacts into one.

They chose differently

When the Crystal broke, everyone in the world made a choice. In one world the travelling merchant has shut his stall and counted every crate. In another he's been waiting for someone like you. Their choices lean on each other too, so what one of them sells can be exactly what another is missing. Start a new game and they may all have chosen differently.

Every region is sealed

Getting out of a region means finding your own way through its seal, and there's rarely only one. Each region is filled with more people living with the choice they made, and the story of what the Crystal really was, carved into sanctuaries and left behind in the places people fled. At the end of the road is the Crystal itself.

Through the Shatter is in development, and the first region is where it starts.

If it sounds like your kind of game, a wishlist it now!
