About This Game

Charades Universe is a local party game inspired by classic charades, word guessing games, drawing games, and team-based guessing challenges.

Players take turns presenting a prompt shown on screen while their team tries to guess the answer before time runs out. Depending on the selected rule, you can act it out, describe it, sing or hum, draw it, or let the game choose a random method each round.

The game is made for flexible local play. You can use a TV, monitor, laptop, or portable screen setup. One player can present the word, multiple players can present together, or teams can decide their own way to play. Players can also use the built-in drawing board, paper, a whiteboard, or their own house rules.

Categories

Charades Universe includes a wide range of categories for different groups and play styles, including:

Proverbs, Animals, Inventions, Popular Songs, Video Games, Music, Everyday Things, Daily Activities, Nature and the Environment, Computer Science / Programming / Technology, Act it Out, and Category Mix.

The game also includes country-themed categories based on the selected language. For example, English includes America, Polish includes Poland, French includes France, and other supported languages include their own country-related category.

The game can also be expanded with DLC category packs, adding more themed prompts such as:

Act it Out 2, Around the World, Cities, Countries, Culinary Creations, History and Civilizations, Jobs and Professions, Mind Benders, Mixed Category packs, Silly & Fun, Sports Spectacle, Technology, and Time Traveler’s Tales.

Ways to Play

Charades Universe supports several ways to present prompts:

Act It Out — use gestures, movement, and expressions.
Describe — explain the word without saying the answer or parts of it.
Sing / Hum — hum, whistle, or sing something connected to the prompt.
Draw — use the built-in drawing board or draw using paper, a board, or another method.
Random Rule — the game chooses the presentation method each round.
Anything Goes — players can use any method that works for the round.

The in-game drawing board includes basic tools such as pen, eraser, colors, brush sizes, clear option, and controller support, so drawing rounds can be played directly inside the game.

Teams and Rules

Play with up to 8 teams, create custom team names, and adjust the rules to match your group.

You can customize:

• Points for correct answers

• Pass penalty

• What happens when time runs out

• What happens when words run out

• One-word deck option

• Team setup and screen setup
