What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is fully playable today — the core duel, Campaign mode, and its opponent roster are all in place. Early Access gives us time to deepen the campaign's progression systems, give more of its opponents their full character, tune balance with real player data, and harden multiplayer with community feedback before calling it done.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to stay in Early Access for at least several months, but we do not want to set a firm end date too early. The timeline depends on testing, balance work, and how much tuning and bug fixing the game still needs.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will complete the campaign's progression arc — deeper rewards for climbing the Inner Circle's tiers, more of its opponents given their full voice and character, and a proper ending to the campaign's story. We also plan improved multiplayer stability and broader balance and polish throughout. The exact scope may shift as we respond to Early Access feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable today. The core duel is complete and stable, Campaign mode is playable from the first invitation through the final opponent, and online multiplayer is included in a testing state — it works, but it's the least-tuned part of the game and will improve through Early Access. Balance and polish work is ongoing throughout”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We expect the price to be somewhat higher after Early Access as more content, fixes, and polish are added. Early Access players will be getting in earlier at a lower price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use community feedback throughout Early Access to help guide development. We’ll pay close attention to bug reports, balance feedback, and player suggestions, especially for Campaign tuning and multiplayer, and use that feedback to help prioritize updates.”

About This Game

You sat down. You picked up the cards. The room closed around you.

Grimshaw's Blotto is a gothic 1v1 card-and-dice strategy game of hidden plays, cruel drafts, and blood-bought power. Build two lanes, tuck your effects face-down, then reveal and roll. Your dice are your attack and your defense at once: win a lane, and the difference in rolls becomes damage.

Every round makes the table meaner. Draft stronger dice and harsher effects between rounds. Hide blessings, curses, and Pith beside your visible bones. Spend Dram to claim power now and survive the cost later. After the first lane resolves, the winner can Press and turn the second lane into a double-damage gamble. Every decision is a bluff. Every bluff is a wound waiting to open.

Climb through Grimshaw's Inner Circle in a single-player campaign as the room grows colder, the faces less human, and the table shows more of its hunger. Or sit across from another player online and learn how much either of you is willing to bleed before you break.

Key Features

  • 1v1 card-and-dice duels built around simultaneous hidden placement

  • A two-lane system where every roll is both offense and defense

  • Visible base dice and hidden effect cards that create bluffing, reads, and reversals

  • Between-round drafting that escalates both decks into deadlier shapes

  • Blood-cost powers, Pith cards, and The Press turning one good read into a lethal swing

  • A gothic single-player campaign against Grimshaw's monstrous Inner Circle

  • Online multiplayer for head-to-head duels at the same cursed table

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Grimshaw's Blotto uses generative AI for some of its visual art and music. All AI-generated content is pre-rendered during development — the game does not generate any content live while you play, and no AI-generated content is created from player input.

Specifically: some card art, character imagery, textures, and background music were produced with generative AI tools, then reviewed, edited, and assembled by hand. Some store page and marketing images were produced the same way. All game design, rules, code, writing, and dialogue are human-authored.

Some of these assets are placeholders and may be replaced with commissioned or hand-made work as the game develops. This notice will be updated if that changes.
