What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“War of the Damned is already 100% functional, but we are launching in Early Access because we need players to thoroughly test the game to refine our concepts and mechanics. The main focus is balance: we want to fine-tune abilities based on community feedback to ensure none are overpowered or lack practical utility. Furthermore, Early Access will allow us to continue expanding the game by adding new playable characters and more enemies to encounter before the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate that War of the Damned will remain in Early Access for approximately one to two years. This timeframe will allow us to integrate all planned content and, most importantly, fine-tune the game's balance based on actual player experience. Our priority is not to rush the full release until the combat system, character roster, and Game Master tools reach the level of polish and variety we are aiming for.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version of War of the Damned to feature a much broader catalog of content. We intend to add a wider variety of playable characters with unique abilities, expand the bestiary with new types of enemies, and significantly increase the amount of items and equipment available. Additionally, we aim to continue integrating advanced tools so that Game Masters have even more control and options when creating their campaigns.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“War of the Damned currently features a fully functional core mechanic and is completely playable. The automated d100 die system is 100% implemented, handling all rolls natively. Players currently have access to all 7 playable classes (Iron Judge, Inquisitor, War Architect, Fencer, Pursuer, Astrologer, and Armored Specter), a functional bestiary with 24 enemy types, and editing tools for the Master to create custom threats.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is and will be FREE.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is the driving force behind War of the Damned. We have an official Discord server where players can report bugs, discuss rule balancing, and propose new mechanics directly with us. Additionally, we've enabled a section on our official website to receive detailed suggestions. We constantly review this feedback to decide which new characters, enemies, and Game Master tools should be prioritized in upcoming updates.”

About This Game

War of the Damned is a dark fantasy RPG set in the twilight of a humanity that once ruled the stars. After a brutal war that nearly brought about human extinction, the survivors remain isolated and fractured. In this landscape of ruin, various factions clash, each claiming to be the true heir of an empire that no longer exists. The game plunges players into this eternal war of remnants, where factions devour one another for control and survival.

Features and System:

  • d100 Automation: The game engine fully processes the d100 rule system, managing successes, damage, and modifiers instantly to speed up the session's pace.

  • Turn-Based Combat: Encounters are resolved in turns, where each miniature uses its action and movement points to attack and position itself.

  • Equipment Wear: Weapons and tools wear out with use, requiring constant equipment management to avoid failures at critical moments.

  • Bestiary and Customization: Includes 24 types of enemies with their own stats and abilities, along with tools for the Game Master to create their own custom threats by uploading their own images or 3D models for miniatures (up to 50MB per file). Advanced customization features and additional Workshop slots are available with the GM Pack.

  • Campaign Management: Create and direct your stories by dividing them into scenes and using your own maps. Managing more than one active campaign as a Game Master requires the GM Pack.
