About This Game

CLEAR THE HYPERLANES

The galaxy's faster than light transit network has been taken over. Rogue AI constructs have overrun the hyperlanes. These are the neon hex tunnels of controlled gravity where velocity is absolutely everything.

You are a Way Rider. You're a sponsored operative riding a hoverboard through these hostile tunnels, clearing routes so civilization can flow again. Every run you make is broadcast. Every death is monetized. Every upgrade makes you a legend.

Survive the highway. Gain popularity and power. Reclaim the hyperlanes.

HEAD LEAN MOVEMENT

This isnt driving, it is spacetime surfing. Experience a unique VR 6DOF movement headset lean to move style that quickly becomes intuitive. Soon youll be flowing through the hyperlanes like a natural.

  • Lean left and right to shift horizontally through the lanes.

  • Lean forward and back to tilt your board up or down to move vertically.

  • Crouch to increase your throttle for high risk plays or stand tall to slow things down and pick your targets.

Not a fan of leaning? Change the input types to what feels natural to you with options for tilt, height, controller gesture surfing, thumbstick, or a blend of multiple styles. The hexfields control the density of the black hole portals keeping everything moving forward. The physical reactive movement makes you feel like youre totally in control without the nausea.

Each Way Rider class comes with top of the line gear provided by the galactic corporations sponsoring you. Start with the Cybernetic Soldier class which comes with:

With 40+ Sponsor mods and way more to come every run brings completely different opportunities. Each level grants you access to a new card or you can lean into pitstops to interact with sponsored shops:

  • Sell unwanted enhancements for currency.

  • Recycle cards into new random draws.

  • Interact with sponsor reps for unique deals.

Whether you want to focus on increasing your critical hit chance, reducing cooldowns, expanding your mag size, adding chain lightning, or unlocking entirely new lanes, you can play exactly your way. Pivot your build, adapt to the enemies, or die trying.

THE CORPORATIONS

In a galaxy of connected trade networks a few mega corporations will sponsor you to clean the hyperlanes and spread their brand everywhere the cameras can reach. Faction loyalty unlocks better upgrades so choose your allies carefully:

Death isnt the end, its just another chance. Return to your ship where your AI companion Byte salvages what you've learned. Spend Sponsorship Credits to unlock new enhancement cards, purchase permanent passive upgrades like starting health or damage bonuses, and unlock new classes. Every death makes your next run stronger.

PROCEDURAL NEON ENVIRONMENTS

Race through diverse procedurally generated environments. Launch between lanes and explore everything from desolate planets to giant sky mega cities. With a variety of biomes every run offers something completely new to see.

SPEED OR SURVIVE

ABOUT THE DEVELOPER

Hey I'm a solo developer from Ireland trying to create an experience that truly makes use of the uniqueness of VR. It has been a long tough road of creating, learning, and growing all the skills needed for solo game dev but I finally have something im ready to share.

Hyperlane Highway started as a small experiment in head tilt locomotion. When I tested a custom modular stat system I realized how perfectly the movement paired with build variety and it evolved into a full roguelike.

My Development Philosophy:

  • VR First Design: Diegetic and immersive interactions.

  • Physics That Feel Right: Movement that becomes second nature.

  • Finding the Flow State: Careful attention to scaling intensity with calm spots to keep it fun.

  • Predictable Variety: Every run should feel new while still allowing players to learn and master enemy behaviors.

  • Community Driven Balance: Your feedback directly shapes the game.

  • VR Comfort: Extensive options for VR input reactiveness.

This is a one person passion project. It might not be perfect yet but it is built to grow with the community. I have tons of ideas to take the game further and hearing your feedback will help make it the best it can be.
