What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Voxelantis and this type of sandbox games are generally big and complex, it takes quite a lot efforts and time to make them polished, content rich and really fun to play. Having a period of EA release will allow us to polish this game better, add more contents and improve its gameplay.

But we can hardly do this alone, we will need build a community to help us with this. This community can provide us with more comprehensive feedbacks and suggestions from a broader range of players, on issues such as what and how should be improved or what should be prioritized for development etc., and the EA period can exactly do that.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Currently we estimate it to be at least one to two years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add the following features/contents to the full version:

* Multiplayer support;
* More and better biomes;
* More enemies and weapons with better combat;
* More device items for automation;
* More comprehensive scripting support;
* Farming;

There are also things we wish to add in the long run. Whether they can make it into the full release or not, it will depend if we can make good progress on the above things so that we can spare sufficient amount of time and efforts on such things. It will also depend on how much the community will want them.

We will at least explore the possibility of letting the communities to add these support as mods using scripting interfaces. The followings are what we wish to add:

* Alien worlds with alien biomes;
* Device items for rockets and spaceships;
* Support for building mech fighters;”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently everything presented in the “About This Game” section are already fully playable in the current development version. So the creative mode already fully works with a complete support for the basic and batch building and a functional support for mechanical simulation and electric circuit simulation. Additional features and contents (such as template/parametric shape based building and device items for basic production automation etc.) will be included in the EA version.

The survival mode is currently a little bit preliminary with a small number of enemies and weapons. There will be a reasonable number of enemies and weapons added to the game before the EA release.

The spherical world mode is almost complete with a few minor issues for building, it can be expected to be fully functional in the EA version. The crafting/recipe system needs a complete overhaul, but this is something must be ready in the EA. Scripting is also already supported to some extent, but some systematic design and improvement of the APIs is still required.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to gradually increase the price according to the progress we make in delivering new features and contents.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will keep the community updated with the progress we make in the development, and gather as many feedbacks and suggestions as possible, then take them into account in our development and decision making. We will use Steam forums, our social media and Discord community hub to gather and discuss player feedbacks.”

About This Game

Voxelantis is a sandbox building and survival game set in a procedurally generated voxel world.

Here you can design and build elegant structures, or conceive and construct ingenious machineries and devices controlled by electric circuits.

And if you want to experience more thrills, you can adventure into the wild and explore uncharted territories where you may discover valued items or encounter and fight dangerous creatures.

Flat and Spherical Worlds

At the beginning, you are mysteriously stranded in a big flat world and lost your way back to your small home planet. You will have to gather resources, craft weapons and fight dangerous creatures in order to survive.

Then you can start to looking for rare materials for building a quantum portal. With this portal you will regain the access to your home planet, but unfortunately it has become a brand new and empty planet. Now maybe fortunately, you can rebuild it in anyway you like.

Deformable Voxels and Subvoxels

In Voxelantis the basic voxel is a full cube and the subvoxels are partial cubes with one or more corner chopped off. The voxels and subvoxels are deformable, and can be made more round or less round by proper tools.

Adaptive Placement and Batch Building

Voxelantis supports a variety of partial block shapes (subvoxels) which can be selected by simply moving the cursor aim around.

You can place multiple blocks at once in the batch building mode.

Device Items, Mechanical and Electric Circuit Simulation

Voxelantis provides a large number of standard mechanical and electronic device items for building sophisticated machineries and devices controlled by electric circuits.

Survival Mode Combat

In the survival mode, aggressive and dangerous creatures will be spawned. So you will need to be able to fight them in order to survive.
