About This Game

Welcome to The Crater!

After a 100 year drought desolated the landscape, nobody thought our great lakes would ever fill again. But water has finally returned, and with it a whole flourishing of brand new life to discover! It's time to get out there, discover new creatures, run your aquarium, customize each tank to creative perfection, and fill out your research journal with every new discovery. Nobody knows what's living beneath the waves, so hop in your boat and rig up your pole because it's time to find out!

Features

You're a species of fluffy Kobold called a Winterbold! Take the helm of a little boat out on The Crater's largest lake: Ursa Major!

• Idle Fishing

  Cast your line with a fully customizable and upgradeable rod. Use different configurations and bait selections to hook undiscovered creatures. Fishing goes at a less distracting pace, allowing you to focus on other tasks, like watching a video, working on a game of your own, and more! You can use Passthrough mode, a Second Monitor, or even something like a Steam Deck on the side to play without losing focus!

• Desktop Passthrough

  Idle Fishing at Crater Lake supports both Desktop Passthrough and Immersive Modes, allowing you to fish right on top of your Desktop and other PC applications, or just display the game normally with fully drawn, relaxing backgrounds!

• Multiplayer

  Invite your friends to your side of the lake and fish together! See what your friends are catching in real time, do a little chatting, and help each other reel in!

• Quests

  Lend your unique fishing and aquarium-building services to the people of The Crater! Meet new faces while building personalized aquariums and growing your reputation.

• Fish-Keeping

  Decorate and balance your growing aquarium. Build out new tanks and showcase the creatures you've caught! You'll have to keep your fish fed and their tanks clean. Find the right mix of man-made gadgets and natural, self-sustaining configurations to match your tank's needs!

• Lore

  The land is rich with forgotten stories and oddities. Do a little underwater archaeology and see what sort of history you can uncover and display in your Aquarium!

• Journal

  You're among the first to start exploring the water since the return of life in the lake! Each creature you find will be a new discovery in your journal. See if you can find everything the depths have to offer, and discover some oddities in the process!

• Economy

  Earn money based on the happiness of your fish in their new environments. Use that income to upgrade your tanks, buy new rods, and expand your aquarium even further.
