What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We're using Early Access because The Clownhouse is the kind of game that gets better with real player feedback. The core loop — sneaking, hiding, crafting, looting, escaping — is already there, but tension and replayability are hard to fully judge in a vacuum. We want to see how players actually move through the mansion, when they take risks, when they bail, and where the cat-and-mouse loop becomes the most fun.Early Access gives us the chance to build that version of the game together with the community instead of waiting until everything is locked in.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is for The Clownhouse to stay in Early Access for around 12 to 18 months.
That timeline may shift depending on development progress and community feedback, but our goal is to take the time needed to grow the game properly rather than rush it out before it's ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to be a bigger, deeper, and more polished version of the game.During Early Access, we plan to expand The Clownhouse with:
More mansion rooms, areas, and environments to explore
More enemy types and smarter clown behaviors
More craftable items, tools, and traps to outsmart the clown
More events, modifiers, and run variety
Deeper roguelite progression and balancing
More story, lore, and environmental detail to uncover
Full localization and accessibility options
More polish, optimization, and quality-of-life improvements
The Early Access version is focused on getting the core stealth loop right first. The full version should feel much more complete, varied, and refined.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes the core experience of The Clownhouse. You can enter through the giant clown's mouth, sneak through the procedurally generated mansion, scavenge for supplies, craft barricades and stun bombs, hide from the clown, collect tickets and valuables, and decide whether to escape with your haul or push deeper for more rewards. The core stealth roguelite loop is fully playable, with procedural mansion generation, the clown AI, crafting, risk/reward extraction, and roguelite progression all implemented. What's still ahead is more content, more variety, and more polish to bring the game to its full vision.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The plan is to launch at a lower price during Early Access and gradually raise it as major content and improvements are added.
That way, early players get in at the best price and help shape the game as it grows.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want the community to be a real part of the development process during Early Access.
We'll be listening through:

- Steam discussions and reviews
- Our Discord server
- Bug reports and feedback forms
- Regular dev updates and patch notes
- Community polls on upcoming features and changes

A big part of Early Access for us is figuring out what players respond to most — what raises the tension, what keeps runs interesting, and what makes them want to go one room deeper when they probably shouldn't.”

About This Game

The Clownhouse

Break into a cursed mansion.

Steal everything you can.

Escape before the Clown finds you.

The Clownhouse is a stealth horror extraction roguelite where every run is a gamble. Loot valuables, manage your sanity, and decide how long you're willing to stay before greed gets you killed.

The mansion changes every run. Layouts shift, dangers move, and the deeper you go, the worse things become. Most runs don't last long, but every escape makes the next one easier.

There are no weapons here. You survive by staying quiet, hiding in the dark, disguising yourself, improvising tools, and knowing when it's time to leave.

Greed Keeps You Inside

Every run is a risk-reward gamble.

  • Search the mansion for cash, jewels, rare valuables, and hidden rooms.

  • Manage limited inventory space and weight. Every item you carry could mean leaving something better behind.

  • Escape with what you've found, or push deeper and risk losing everything.

  • Short, high-tension runs built for replayability.

The Mansion Wants You Gone

You're not alone inside.

  • The Clown stalks the halls relentlessly. Sometimes it kills. Sometimes it just watches and laughs while your sanity collapses.

  • The Butcher only hunts in the light. In darkness, he's harmless. Sometimes your flashlight is the most dangerous thing you own.

  • The Rabbit lurks through the mansion wearing a mask you'll desperately want for yourself.

Outsmart Them

You can't fight what hunts you. You survive by tricking it.

  • Wear disguises. Steal the Bunny Mask and walk among the mansion's horrors unnoticed.

  • Stay hidden. Turn off your flashlight, crouch through darkness, and avoid making noise.

  • Slow them down. Barricade doors, deploy distractions, and use crafted tools to buy yourself precious seconds when escape is the only option.

  • Move quietly. Find gear that muffles your footsteps and keeps attention away from you.

Hold Onto Your Mind

The longer you stay, the harder it becomes to think clearly.

  • Sanity constantly drains inside the mansion, especially when the Clown decides to toy with you.

  • Craft cocktails from looted alcohol to steady your nerves and survive longer runs.

  • Solve puzzles and unlock sealed rooms hiding the mansion's most valuable rewards.

Key Features

  • Stealth horror extraction gameplay.

  • Fast, replayable roguelite runs.

  • Procedurally generated mansion layouts.

  • Risk-reward looting and extraction loop.

  • No combat. Only stealth, hiding, and survival.
