The Oldest Layer of English

Before 1066, English was a Germanic language. The words that survived from that older English are still the ones you reach for first: house, drink, eat, fight, begin, understand. Short. Physical. Blunt. They're the words children learn, the words you think in, the words that carry weight without effort.

German Roots is a 1,000-word vocabulary course built on this Anglo-Saxon foundation. An English course, taught through the building blocks the language inherited from its oldest ancestors.

Reading level sits around B2 / sixth-to-eighth grade. Accessible from the start, with no prerequisite packs.
