What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Basement Server Simulator is a management game that benefits a lot from real player feedback. The core gameplay loop is already in place, but Early Access will help shape balancing, progression, quality-of-life improvements, multiplayer testing, and future feature priorities.

I want to build the game with the community instead of developing the rest of it in isolation. Player feedback will help me understand which systems are the most fun, which ideas are worth expanding, and which areas need more depth, polish, or adjustment before the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I currently expect Basement Server Simulator to remain in Early Access for roughly 6 to 18 months.

That timeline may change depending on development progress, playtesting results, and community feedback, but the goal is to use Early Access to expand the game’s content, improve balance and polish, and continue improving multiplayer support before a full 1.0 release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to expand on the foundation established in Early Access rather than completely change the game.

My current plan is to grow Basement Server Simulator with more hardware tiers, more unlocks and progression, additional server applications and hosted service types, more management depth, more events and failure scenarios, more balancing and quality-of-life improvements, and stronger multiplayer support over time.

I also plan to use community feedback to help decide which ideas should be prioritized, expanded, reworked, or cut. That means the exact feature order may change during Early Access, but the goal is for the full version to offer a broader, deeper, and more polished version of the same core experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is planned to launch with the core business-management loop fully playable.

Players will be able to buy and place hardware, manage power, internet, and cooling, set service prices, review and accept customer offers, assign work to servers, handle day-to-day operating costs, use progression and unlock systems, and grow their basement hosting operation over time. The game is designed around a playable management loop first, with additional content and depth to be added during Early Access.

The Early Access version is also expected to include the main progression structure of the game, including store growth, unlockable equipment, server applications, and the core infrastructure systems that define the experience. Multiplayer is part of the project direction as well, though it will continue to improve during Early Access as more players test it in real conditions.

As development continues, I will keep polishing stability, balance, presentation, audio, and overall content depth.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The plan is to start with a lower price during Early Access and gradually raise the price as new content, features, and polish are added.

The goal is for Early Access players to get in at a lower entry price while supporting the game earlier in development. If the scope of the game grows significantly during Early Access, the full release price will likely be higher than the initial Early Access price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play a major role in shaping Basement Server Simulator during Early Access.

I plan to use the Steam Community discussions and the game’s Discord server as the main places to gather feedback, bug reports, balancing suggestions, and feature requests. I also plan to post updates and development news through Steam posts and Discord so players can follow progress and see what is changing over time.

Player feedback will help guide balancing, quality-of-life improvements, multiplayer testing, and feature prioritization throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

Basement Server Simulator is a cozy first-person management sim where you build a tiny home hosting setup into a serious basement server empire—solo or in co-op with friends.

Designed to be approachable and laid-back, the game focuses on the fun of growing a hosting business without drowning you in real-world server complexity. You won’t be configuring IP addresses, typing command lines, or handling complicated wiring. Instead, you’ll buy hardware, place and power your machines, install server applications, set your prices, accept customer contracts, and expand your operation one upgrade at a time.

Balance profit, progression, and infrastructure as you manage power limits, internet capacity, room heat, hardware failures, and daily operating costs. Dedicate servers to making money, invest in XP generation to unlock new content faster, and scale from a cramped basement into a dense and powerful server room.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

This game was developed by a solo developer with the assistance of generative AI tools during production.

AI tools such as ChatGPT were used as a development aid for Unreal Engine guidance, technical explanations, spell-checking, and drafting some in-game text and UI messaging. ChatGPT was also used to generate some placeholder images and audio assets during early development.

Some 3D models and textures were created using AI-assisted tools such as Tripo3D.ai. These assets may be refined, replaced, or improved over time as the project evolves and budget allows.

All gameplay systems, mechanics, design decisions, Blueprint scripting, and overall game implementation were created and assembled by the developer. No AI system autonomously generated gameplay code or core systems.

Additional assets were purchased through the Unreal Engine Fab Marketplace where noted.

AI tools were used strictly as production assistants to support solo development.
