What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“SpaceBell will be an Early Access release so that WILLSWAYSTUDIOS can get feedback from the community on building out the in-game store, and other key features of the game. Moreover, WILLSWAYSTUDIOS is a new studio, with SpaceBell being our first release. Therefore, our resources are currently limited--making Early Access an appealing option. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“WILLSWAYSTUDIOS has two games currently in dev--introducing the Sci-Hy genre. Since this is a colossal undertaking WILLSWAYSTUDIOS can only give a likely window for how long full-release will be for SpaceBell: The goal is 6-12 months of being in Early Access--with a lifetime of polishing.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to have the full-release version with:
- Complete controller support
-A full-store with hundreds of skins, with everything being customizable.
-Levels 100-200 will continue the story and begin sharing the solution while clarifying Einstein's 1949 argument.
-Bosses after level 65 will be complete.
-New challenges will be introduced mid-game.
-More puzzles will be introduced.
-Greater progression dynamics will be polished.
-Support for more languages.
-Full home-made sound effects for all required features, including a sound-score and concept album (current tracks are not final).
-Overall Early Access will be 60-70% complete. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Please refer to the "About This" section for details on what is implemented.
Currently the game as:
-Story mode from levels 1-100
-Store skins
-All the RPG aspects implemented
-Full crafting
-Full survival mechanics
-Full mode switching
-Partial sound effects and tracks
-Partial puzzle games and mechanics
-Global Scoreboard
-Full critique of Einstein's later arguments
-Bell's argument introduced
-Partial Boss completion

Overall, the current state the game is playable and has an entertaining grind. There are some bugs, but nothing drastic that affects gameplay. The game has a long road to become perfect, yet it has excellent bones. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“SpaceBell will not be priced differently in early release compared to full, however--there will be discounts and sales periodically offered in Early Access. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Your participation will help shape the final product to not only reach my standards--but those of the community. Aside from the game's website; SpaceBell will have an open-community hub at another website, complete details coming soon, allowing players to share tips, strategies, and walk-throughs, while also suggesting skins and other features of the game. There will be a complete wiki-style page with many other community based features. Discord will be also be utilized to help keep the community connected and informed. There will also be a plethora of methods to suggest game content and direction. ”

About This Game

ENTER INWARD SPACE

SpaceBell is a science-driven action roguelite set not in outer space, but deep within the atomic and neural world inside physicist John Bell’s mind.

Pilot a quantum ship, battle biological threats, turn surrounding particles into weapons, recover strange materials, and construct a powered base. The scientific model you choose changes how combat behaves—and how you understand the world around you.

You are Einstein.

After Bell’s time-machine journey from 1964 to 1949 goes wrong, Einstein is pulled into the fractured world inside Bell’s mind. To escape, you must recover the Neurokeys, reconstruct the missing theoretical framework, and survive the consequences of a quantum theory that was never designed to describe an individual system.

FIGHT WITH THE PARTICLES AROUND YOU

Navigate a connected neural world in your ship, dodging projectiles and returning fire with bullets, lasers, and crafted weapons.

Combat is physical. Your attacks create knockback, enemies collide with one another, and particles in the environment can become weapons. Ram into dormant particles to temporarily energize them, then use their collisions to destroy molecular targets and damage biological enemies.

Face viruses, bacteria, prions, free radicals, and other hazards capable of inflicting translation hijack, oxidative stress, and membrane damage.

Dock at enterable locations, leave your ship, and continue exploring and fighting on foot as Einstein.

THREE QUANTUM MODES—THREE WAYS TO PLAY

Choose between three interpretations of the quantum world, each with different combat rules:

  • Individual System — Use precise, deterministic aiming and predictable trajectories.

  • Ensemble QM — Adapt to spread, uncertainty, and probability-based behavior.

  • Bell Pairs — Exploit correlations between linked targets, trigger connected destruction, and pursue valuable quantum tokens.

These are more than difficulty settings. Each mode changes how you aim, fight, solve problems, and interpret events within the world.

EXPLORE, SALVAGE, CRAFT, SURVIVE

Travel freely through a persistent grid of neural regions. Enemies grow more dangerous as you venture farther from safety, while the world remembers the objects, resources, and threats you leave behind.

Collect quantum materials and biological compounds to craft:

  • Weapons and ammunition

  • Ships, shields, and upgrades

  • Tools and repair supplies

  • Food and survival equipment

  • Base components and power systems

Manage hunger, equipment durability, health, and your methane-powered boost. When you are ready to advance, return to the Synapse Portal and convert what you have learned into greater power.

BUILD A HOME INSIDE BELL’S MIND

Use your ship’s construction beam to place modular rooms and create a working base within the neural landscape.

Dock your ship, step inside as Einstein, and equip your base with crafting stations, repair benches, upgrade consoles, beds, storage, food supplies, defenses, and other specialized rooms.

Build a functioning power grid by connecting reactors to consumers. Manage fuel, operate assemblers, and protect your base with powered turrets and shields.

Your base is more than decoration—it is your workshop, shelter, supply network, and foothold in an increasingly hostile world.

DISCOVER A FRACTURED SCIENTIFIC WORLD

Search ruins, open abandoned drawers and chests, undertake quests for Planck, and recover the Neurokeys needed to continue your journey.

Explore locations including Planck’s Market, Schrödinger’s shop, the Grand Library, abandoned relays, biological laboratories, and forgotten ruins. Puzzle-driven bosses and unusual win conditions will test more than your weapons.

A SCIENTIFIC HYPOTHESIS YOU CAN PLAY

SpaceBell calls its approach Sci-Hy: a Scientific-Hypothesis Game.

Instead of simply presenting scientific facts, Sci-Hy turns competing ideas into playable systems. Different hypotheses produce different rules, consequences, puzzles, and strategies.

The central question is inspired by Einstein’s 1949 criticism of quantum mechanics: does the conventional wave function completely describe one individual system—such as a single radioactive atom with a definite decay event—or does it describe only statistical ensembles?

The story places that question beside Bell’s later work on correlated systems and invites players to explore a speculative Additional Variables program through gameplay and narrative.

SpaceBell treats this as a scientific hypothesis to investigate—not a conclusion the player is required to accept.

No physics degree is required. Learn the world by flying through it, fighting within it, building inside it, and testing its rules for yourself.
