Why Early Access?

“FRCTL is a solo passion project, and Early Access gives me a way to get the game into players' hands while I continue building it out. The core loop is fun and stable, but there's a lot more I want to add; more enemy types, more upgrade paths, more bosses. Getting real feedback from people who actually play arcade shooters matters a lot to me, and I'd rather shape the game alongside a community than disappear for two years and ship something that misses the mark.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 6 to 12 months. The core game is already playable and in a good state, so this isn't a "years away from being finished" situation. The timeline depends on feedback and how development goes, but that's my honest best estimate.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have more content across the board. I plan to add more enemy types with distinct behaviours, additional boss encounters beyond the current 100,000 point boss, more upgrade options and build variety, and additional stages or environments. I also plan to polish the overall difficulty curve and add a proper leader board system. The Early Access version is a complete, playable experience, the full version will just be deeper and more repayable.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core game is fully implemented and playable. You can pilot your spacecraft through waves of geometric enemies, chain kills to build combos, collect upgrades between waves, and push for the boss encounter at 100,000 points. The upgrade system, combo mechanics, and enemy wave structure are all in and working. It's a complete run from start to boss, just with less content variety than what I plan to add over time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will remain free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'll be active in the Steam forums and will read everything posted there. Bug reports, balance feedback, upgrade suggestions, all of it is useful. I'll post update notes explaining what changed and why, and I'll be upfront when feedback directly influenced a decision. If there's enough of a community, I may also set up a Discord. The game is small enough that I can actually respond to people, and I intend to.”
