About This Demo

The year is 1980. Home computers are taking over the world, and you see your chance: Armed with nothing but an idea and a handful of programming languages, you start your own software company.

In this free demo, experience the first two years of Code Tycoon – the tycoon game where you build a software company through four decades of programming history.

What to expect in the demo:

🖥️ Code with historical languages – Start with pioneers like BASIC, Assembly, and COBOL. Each language has unique strengths, weaknesses, and use cases – just like in real computing history.

📋 Take on client projects – Automatically generated contracts challenge you at every turn. Choose wisely: each project comes with a deadline, a budget, and features of varying complexity.

🐛 Fight bugs – No code is perfect. Bugs appear during development and delay your projects. Find and fix them before the deadline runs out.

⭐ Gain experience – The more you code in a language, the more efficient you become. Specialize or stay versatile – the choice is yours.

💰 Earn money and grow – Deliver on time for bonus payments, or risk penalties for late delivery.

The demo covers the in-game years 1980–1982 and gives you a taste of Code Tycoon's core gameplay loop. The full game takes you through over 40 years of programming history into the 2020s – with 20+ languages, growing teams, and increasingly complex projects.
