What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ScareZone is a deep management sim built on real haunted attraction design principles and first hand experience. Early Access lets us put it in front of both tycoon game players and real haunt industry people to validate and refine the simulation — from scare sequences and timing to economy balancing and scenario design. The core gameplay loop is complete and playable, but the best tycoon games are shaped by their community, and we want that input early.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 9-12 months. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access will include 3 handcrafted scenarios, sandbox mode, and the complete core gameplay loop — haunt design, guest simulation, economy, and seasonal progression. Between EA and 1.0 we plan to add several additional scenarios, expanded FX equipment, tons of new props and animatronics, deeper staff management systems, and quality-of-life improvements driven by community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build includes the full core gameplay loop: design and build your haunt layout, hire and manage scare actors, place animatronics and FX equipment, open for the season, and review your results. 3 handcrafted scenarios and sandbox mode are included. Haunt design tools, scare choreography, guest simulation, economy, amenities, and the seasonal progression loop are all fully functional.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan a moderate increase in price when the game leaves Early Access and reaches its full 1.0 release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is central to our development plan. We have a Discord server where players and irl haunt professionals can report bugs, suggest features, and discuss haunt design strategy. We'll also monitor Steam discussions and reviews closely. Major updates will include dev notes explaining what changed and why, and community input will directly shape priorities between EA and 1.0.”

About This Game

Produced by a team with decades of experience in haunts and themed entertainment, this creative tycoon game lets you turn an empty warehouse or field into a world of horrors. Design your layout, fill it with perfectly placed scares and atmospheric lighting, audio, and decor. Then hire a talented crew of scare actors and unleash your twisted creation upon the general public.

Design Your Layout

Start with a blank space — a warehouse, a shuttered store, maybe even a soundstage — and transform it into a functional haunted attraction. Lay out your guest path, build and theme your walls, and fill every hallway and corner with props, decor, and atmospheric touches that bring your sinister vision to life.

Engineer the Fear

Place actor-led scares and animatronics along the path and craft elaborate sequences with strategic timing and placement. Chain scare and distraction combos, and dial in every room until guests are sprinting for the chicken exits. (Sorry, no refunds.)

Set the Stage

Dial up your haunt's atmosphere and fear levels with ambient lighting and sound. Use custom trigger sequences to sync lighting, animatronics, and even scare actors. And of course, you can't forget fog, air cannons, or smells (did they say smells?). Combine effects to recreate classic haunt illusions such as Pepper's Ghost, blacklight rooms, the laser swamp, and much more.

Open the Gates!

Open the gates and watch the spooky season chaos unfold. Manage ticket pricing, marketing, and the flow of guests through your haunt while keeping the whole operation afloat as actors tire out and complain, animatronics break, or security incidents slow the line to a crawl. If you can prove yourself a creative and profitable haunter, bigger opportunities are on the horizon.

  • First person POV — Step into your guest's shoes and experience your wicked creation from eye level

  • FX equipment — Fog machines, gobos, strobes, speakers, lasers, and much more

  • Guest simulation — Several guest archetypes with unique fears, tolerances, and group dynamics

  • Scare actors — Hire the very best crew (you can afford), assign them costumes, rotate breaks, and keep your scare team performing night after night

  • Security — Hire guards to handle line-cutters, rowdy drunks, and the occasional uninvited troublemaker

  • Maintenance — Keep animatronics firing and fixtures glowing as wear-and-tear piles up

  • Economy — Balance General Admission and Front-of-Line ticket prices with actor salaries, attraction maintenance, and nightly rent

  • Reputation — Prepare for Influencer and VIP visits that can make or break your haunt's reputation

  • Amenities — Increase revenue with snack stands, gift shops, bars, and bathrooms. (You didn't forget bathrooms, did you?)

  • Seasonal loop — Build, open, review, rebuild. Every season is a chance to go bigger and scarier

  • 3 handcrafted scenarios at EA launch — with many more to come, plus full sandbox mode

ScareZone is populated with horror-themed props and decor including severed body parts, bloody corpses, skeletons, and other standard haunted house set pieces.
