What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cull the Crib will be released in Early Access so we can gather run data and fine-tune balance and gameplay, as well as take in as much player feedback as we can!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate Cull the Crib will be in Early Access for approximately 6 months. This gives us enough time to gather meaningful player feedback, refine game balance, polish assets, implement Crib Depth difficulty levels, and make UI and talent adjustments before the full 1.0 release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“On full releaw we plan to have a refined game balance informed by player feedback, polished visual and audio assets, Crib Depth difficulty levels, UI improvements for clarity and flow, and fine-tuned talent trees across all four factions. The core gameplay loop is complete — Early Access is about dialing everything in with the community's help.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable from start to finish. All four factions, 96 talents, three bosses, shops, relics, and a tutorial are in place. The core mechanics have been through rigorous balance testing including large-scale simulations and live playtesting. Early Access updates will focus on polish, balance refinement, and community-driven improvements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Cull the Crib will be available at a discounted during Early Access. When the game reaches its full 1.0 release, the price will increase slightly. Early Access supporters get the best price as a thank you for helping shape the game during development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our Discord server is the primary hub for community involvement. Players can report bugs, suggest balance changes, and discuss strategies directly with the development team. We actively review player feedback to inform balance patches, talent adjustments, and UI improvements. As development progresses, we plan to expand our community presence through our website with patch notes, dev updates, and roadmap visibility. ”

Roadmap

Feature List

Cull the Crib is a roguelike deckbuilder where cribbage is your weapon. Every hand you play is a fight for survival — score combos, trigger faction abilities, and outlast increasingly dangerous enemies across a 12-encounter gauntlet.

This isn't your grandma's cribbage game. Every card in the 52-card deck belongs to one of four factions, and every card played triggers unique effects that can turn the tide of battle. Pairs, runs, fifteens — the classic cribbage combos you know now deal damage, apply debuffs, and fuel devastating abilities.

FOUR FACTIONS, FOUR PLAYSTYLES

Demon Horde — The Warlord charges into battle with raw burst damage. Score combos to deal devastating bonus damage and heal through sheer aggression.

Undead Legion — The Necromancer sustains through lifesteal, draining enemy HP with every card played. Outlast your opponents and let attrition do the work.

Shadow Cult — The Shadow Priest controls the battlefield with Fear, stacking debuffs that cripple enemy damage output. Dominate through manipulation.

Hell Hounds — The Hound Master applies stacking Burn damage that persists between hands, ticking away at enemies over time. Build pressure until they break.

KEY FEATURES

Cribbage-Based Combat — A fresh take on the deckbuilder genre. Score fifteens, pairs, runs, and flushes to deal damage. If you know cribbage, you're already dangerous. If you don't, the tutorial has you covered.

96 Unique Talents — Each faction has a deep 8-tier talent tree with 3 choices per tier. Build your character your way — no two runs play the same.

Faction Conversion — Reshape your deck mid-run. Convert cards from rival factions into your own, permanently changing your deck's composition for all future draws. Stack your deck with your faction's cards to trigger more abilities, stronger combos, and deeper synergies with every hand.

12-Encounter Runs — Battle through three waves of enemies, each capped by a boss with unique mechanics, phase shifts, and enrage abilities.

Shop & Relic System — Spend pegs earned from defeated enemies on potions, relics, and cards. Relics provide permanent passive bonuses for your entire run. Potions give you a clutch edge when you need it most.

Status Effects — Burn stacks tick damage every turn and explode at the cap. Fear reduces enemy damage, buying you time to set up lethal combos. Master both to survive.

Every Card Matters — All 52 cards have unique faction effects. Playing any faction's cards triggers their abilities regardless of your class, opening up cross-faction strategies.

Built for Replayability — Four classes, deep talent trees, random encounters, and shop RNG mean every run tells a different story.
