What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I have been working on Signal From The Stars for years (there wasn't AI) and have funded the development myself. I have waited before entering Early Access because I wanted to make sure the game had a strong foundation first.

The story, game engine and design (sketches) are already done. What remains is mainly creating the final pixel art, music and voice acting.

I am also making this game without using AI for the assets like art, sound, voices and music. The engine is 99% non AI. I want to keep the game personal and maintain the quality and vision I have had from the beginning.

Early Access allows me to continue developing the game while players can already experience the adventure and become part of its journey. Because I fund the development myself, it takes a little longer. But I want real people to keep working on the game, so I can guarantee the quality.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It may take a year or more (2027–2028).

I waited as long as possible before entering Early Access because I wanted to be sure the project was ready. All the sketches, scenes and text are already prepared. The remaining work is creating the final pixel art, music and voice acting.

Rather than rushing the game to meet a fixed deadline, I want to take the time needed to finish it properly.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The visual style will remain the same. Signal From The Stars will continue to be a pixel art point and click adventure.

The main difference will be the amount of content. The full version will contain many more scenes, locations and story moments.

The story, game engine and scene plans are already prepared. The remaining work is turning these into the finished pixel art experience.
”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently contains 5 playable scenes.

The Netherlands:
• Outside
• Living Room
• Hallway
• Bedroom

India:
• Outside

This is the beginning of the adventure, with more scenes and locations planned for future updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes.

The Early Access price will be approximately half of the planned full release price.

The price will increase when the game reaches full release.
”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will closely follow community feedback throughout Early Access.

This will help me find bugs, unclear puzzles and other problems that I may have missed during development. Player feedback can also provide a fresh perspective on how the story and scenes are experienced.

The main story and vision are already established, but community feedback will help me polish the game and improve the overall experience.”

About This Game

The world is full of mysteries waiting to be discovered.

Join Martin, Diana and Nikki on their journey around the world in the eighties, searching for real mysteries at existing locations. Help them investigate the clues, connect the dots and find the truth. What will you about to discover yourself, and will it change the way you see the world?

REAL MYSTERIES

There are still an enormous number of mysteries that science cannot explain. For years I have been collecting work from the pre internet era and only mysteries that are tangible. These are mainly archaeological finds or ruins that still have no scientific explanation. This game is not intended to provide a possible explanation, but to raise awareness about them. From all the books that have been written about them over the centuries, I have been able to make a selection, and then tie it all together as a puzzle.

REAL PLACES

Spread all over the world, there are an enormous number of ancient archaeological discoveries to admire that only raise questions among scientists. You will travel to different countries in an alternative way once you manage to solve the first puzzle. The way of travelling is free and also environmentally friendly ;)
The countries you are going to see are:

  • Netherlands

  • Peru

  • Africa

  • Egypt

  • India

  • Mexico

  • Easter Island

  • Costa Rica

  • Antarctica

  • Bosnia

CLASSIC / PIXEL ART

Growing up with a Commodore 64 and having played multiple point and click games, I have been working on this game my entire life. First I had to become a programmer and in the meantime read a lot about mythology, archaeology and related subjects. Then create the game engine with the condition that it would give the same nostalgic atmosphere (a little more modern here and there, but with the same slowness and frustrations).

One of the most difficult graphic styles is pixel art! It may look simple but every pixel has been placed by hand! You can therefore also play this game as if you are walking through a pixel art gallery.

All assets (audio/graphics) were made without AI!
