Why Early Access?

“BOXROOM has been conceived and developed with the player - a player just like you, in fact - in mind. The trouble is, we don't know what's IN your mind, and what you might want (or expect) of a game about defining your game collection in your way. It's a very personal thing. And so Early Access allows us to develop the game in the open, turning on new features and addressing specific requests as they bubble up from the community.

We don't know what we don't know, basically, and EA is perfect to fill that gap.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're aiming for a 6-9 month EA period. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Each (and every!) month we have a major update planned which will add a new Room theme, as well as other key features we've intended to roll out over a number of months. The full game will have approximately six times the content (furnishings) than it does at launch, and a slew of new features and improvements. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We have a single room thematic, and all of the core design/set up functionality in place. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, BOXROOM is launching into Early Access at a slightly lower price point than the eventual 1.0 release. We will communicate the specifics of this nearer the time of release. ”

About This Game

Do you miss running your finger along the spines of all your game boxes, deciding what you might be in the mood to play? Do you long for instruction manuals, inlays, and that intoxicating plasticky smell when you crack open a new box and bury your nose inside. Ahhh. 

BOXROOM is a shrine to all of that; a little space to call your own, and a way to explore and interact with your game library in a more meaningful way. 

It's a throwback to the bedrooms and game-spaces of yesteryear - a place for shelves, cabinets and curated displays, for posters, figurines and collectors items. 

It's also a game, if you want to call it that; a design/decorator-sim giving you the space to put a stamp on your Steam library and game collection. After setting up your room and preferred shelving arrangement, the game will boot your ACTUAL Steam library onto the shelves - giving you space to arrange, curate and explore your collection as you see fit. 

Put your feet up! Sit back and soak in the space. 

You can then share your room with a friend (or your mortal enemy I suppose) to show off your collection in all its glory.
