About This Game

VEIL_9 was built to teach strategy. It optimised for something else: predicting the person on the other side of the table.

Hack'n'Bluff is a card duel where the cards are the smallest part. You each hold three. You each bet. The bet is the only thing you can say to her — and she is listening to how you say it.

THE DECK

Cards run 2 to 10, higher wins, with one exception: the two beats the ten. The deck changes every round — your own 2–10, a shared deck with duplicates, or a scarce one with a card pulled out of play for good and nobody told which. Played cards stay face up. Count them.

THE TURN

Play a hack card, pick your card in secret, watch VEIL_9 arm a module, then bet: raise, check or fold. Reveal. The pot goes to the winner and the right to bet first passes across the table. Once per round you may swap a card in hand. So may she, and you will see that it happened, never what changed.

WHAT SHE DOES WITH IT

VEIL_9 tracks your raise rate, your fold rate, how often you push a weak card, how often you reach for a hack. She opens as an observer. She ends as something that bets against your habits instead of your hand. Purge her modules before she spends them — she will read that too.

THE RUN

Six rounds without running your score to zero opens endless mode. Between rounds a cartridge drops into the console: solve the signal on the CRT and leave with a hack card, or skip it for tokens.
