What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The first week of the story is built and playable. We want people playing it while we build the rest, so we can fix what is confusing, unfair or boring before the whole thing is locked in.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 6 to 12 months. It depends on how much we change after hearing from players.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full game is planned as four weeks of night shifts. Early Access starts with the first week. Later weeks add new guests, more ways to use a tape, and more trouble from the people you owe.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Four nights are playable from start to finish: checking guests in, cleaning and stocking rooms, the supply van, hidden cameras and tapes, a police search, and a story that reacts to what you did the night before. Expect bugs and rough animation.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will go up as we add the later weeks. Buying in Early Access gets you every update.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Tell us in the Steam discussions what broke and what you did not understand. We read all of it, and we will post patch notes with each update.”

About This Game

It's 1997. You got caught, and instead of prison the court handed you a job: night clerk at your uncle's motel, the Starlight Rest. You owe the court money every week. Miss a payment and you go back.

Most of the night is honest work

People turn up at the desk and you check them in. You look at the ID, and sometimes the ID is wrong.

Somebody has to take the garbage out, scrub the toilets and put towels in the rooms. That somebody is you.

The supply van comes at night, and the fuse box goes whenever it likes.

Then there's the other work

You can look through a keyhole. Later you get a camera, a tape and a basement full of monitors, and you find out what your guests do when the door is shut.

What you do with a tape is up to you. Give it to the county and take the reward. Give it to the man you owe. Slide a note under the guest's door and name a price. Or burn it and say nothing. Whatever you pick comes back the next night.

Everybody wants something from you

The van driver sells more than towels. A woman from the court comes for her money. A deputy leans on your counter with his hand out.

And your uncle is watching you as closely as you watch the guests. Take your pills, or your hands start to shake.
