Pourquoi choisir l'accès anticipé ?

« The game isn’t quite finished yet, and that’s sort of the point. There are plans for plenty of updates ahead, some big and some small on irregular release schedules, as development continues. The core of the game will likely stay the same, but I have plans for a lot more content to be added over time.

The goal is for this to act a digital sketchbook, or a demo disk of sorts. It's a place for me to try out ideas and offer demonstrations of concepts. I currently plan that if any of the Oddities and up being very popular I may look into expanding on it as a separate release.

This is a long-term project. It's currently planned to expand over years, becoming more complex and feature rich. »

Pendant combien de temps environ ce jeu sera-t-il en accès anticipé ?

« I currently plan on six months or so. Though that is very flexible. Updates will likely continue indefinitely, but within that time frame the game should have enough content and polish to feel like a complete product. At that point, it would be something I’d be genuinely happy to put on a disc and sell as a physical release. »

« As mentioned above, the overall structure of the game will likely stay the same. I plan that the time it’s finished, it will simply have a massive amount of content. I also plan to add more inter-connectivity between the games, with Easter eggs, unlocks, and a few extra features, including a planned free and optional companion app that can be used to control parts of the experience. »

« The game already works well and is in a very playable state. Right now, it mainly just needs more content, with additional games planned for the future. Play-testers have shared that some of the games included are genuinely a lot of fun.

Several playable games and prototypes
A player save system with multiple games saving persistent data like high scores and best times or unlocked items.
A credits screen
Fully functional pause/resume function (Triggered by; ESC/Controller Start button, window focus loss, opening Steam overlay through the controller Home button, controller disconnection)

« There are no plans to ever change the price under any circumstances except for potential limited time discounts. »

« The community is always welcome to suggest ideas for new games, and I’ll seriously consider them. Feedback on any part of the experience is encouraged as well, and where it makes sense, it will be taken on board and implemented.

Remember back in the 90s and 00s when you’d get demo discs? Maybe they came free with your favourite gaming magazine, or were hidden inside a box of cereal. They were great. This is the modern version of that idea.

Cambell’s Oddity Box is a collection of fun, self-contained experiences. Games, experimental input methods, unusual menu designs, and other strange little ideas all live together in one place. The collection will be continually updated, with new Oddities added as they are ready.

Keep an eye out for Easter eggs and collectables. Discover something interesting in one game and it might unlock something new in another. Find a gold block in one Oddity and you could unlock an alternate skin somewhere else.

Each experience, referred to as an Oddity, is accessed through the main menu. The main menu can always be reached by pressing the Start button or the ESC key. Beyond that, all bets are off. Every Oddity has its own design language, art style, rules, and game play mechanics.

Most games support controller or mouse and keyboard input. Some may even allow interaction through the Cambell’s Oddity Box companion app. (To be released at a later date)

Warning: Many of these games will be severely broken, unfinished, hardly even games.

Some of the Oddities currently included in the Oddity Box:

Chop The Food

Swipe with a mouse, finger, controller stick to slice through the fruits. Rack up points and try to get a combo to be called Master Chef!

Punt A Puck
An air hockey-style game where you bounce a puck between two players, featuring smart enemy AI. Also a local 2 player mode.

PLEASE NOTE: Purchasing the base game does not unlock any real playable content. That is delivered by downloading the free DLCs that release over time. This is done so you can arrange your own box of oddities. If you like one game but not another there's no point in having them all cluttering the menu and taking up storage space. Try all of the DLC and uninstall any that aren't to your taste.

Generative AI was used for the production of SOME art assets. Some are completely handmade, Some are almost entirely AI with additional human editing. This normally varies by game where one will have lots of AI and one will be completely handmade.

Art assets refer to images and music.

No AI ever runs during runtime.
