About This Game

They cured cancer. Then nobody stayed dead.

The rest of the world wanted ten more years of trials. Central City couldn't wait: everyone got the shot, free. For a month, people felt amazing. Then they stopped dying, kept growing, and started eating anything that moved.

The government sealed the city and sent in the cleanup crews. The only people still human are a stubborn few who never trusted a free miracle, and the inmates of Central City Prison, because nobody wasted the cure on them.

You're one of those inmates. The government wants every last one of you gone. Quietly.

You can't die. Your crew can.

  • Die out there and you wake up back in your cell. The inmates you brought with you stay dead.
  • Every inmate has a name, a record and a temper. They get better with practice, pull back when they're hurt, and draw the horde off you when it counts. Lose one on day ten and you'll feel it.
  • And you're changing. Mask your scent and walk right through a horde. Play dead when that fails. Graft tissue from the nastiest infected into your own body. Just keep away from fire.

Loot. Survive. Extract.

  • Sixteen places across a sealed city, opening up day by day: a roadside gas station, a three-story mall, the army's quarantine line, a police station, a high school held by a scavenger gang, the subway, a government shelter, a zoo turned military outpost, the lab where the cure was made, the stadium where everyone got the shot, and downtown, the biggest raid of all.
  • No two raids play the same, and some go wrong from the start: a map already overrun, a government sweep in progress, scavengers who got there first.
  • Knives, crowbars, crossbows, shotguns, a sniper rifle, a tranq gun, Molotovs and a flamethrower. Guns are loud. Fire one in the mall and every shop empties toward you.
  • Sneak up for silent takedowns. Barricade doors, drop shutters, crawl through the dark. Night raids pay more, but you see less.
  • Reach an extraction point with your haul, or lose everything that isn't in your safe pocket.

Up to 16 players. Friendly fire on.

  • Online co-op for 2 to 16 players, in public, friends-only or invite-only lobbies. Playing solo? Lead a crew of up to three AI inmates.
  • Vote on where to raid, split up once you're inside, and stand together on the host's walls when the siege hits.
  • Accidents happen. Kill a crewmate in front of a witness and you're thrown out of the prison into a brutal exile run.

The dead keep growing

  • Walkers and kids. Fatties that charge through walls and parked cars. Long arms that grab you through the wall. Spiders that drop from the ceiling. Zombie dogs. And bosses, from the brood mother in the mall basement to a zombie panda at the zoo.
  • They hear everything. They eat their own dead and grow bigger. They pile up into crowds you can wade through, or get crushed under.
  • Floors cave in, fire spreads, fuel tanks blow, and smoke fills the shops.
  • Then the government shows up: hazmat squads, drones calling in mortar strikes, and a Burn Chief with a flamethrower.

Hold the prison

  • Upgrade facilities, craft gear, break into locked wings and recruit fellow inmates. You have 30 days before the government comes for you.
  • Every crime brings a perk and a flaw. The lockpick searches twice as fast, but things go missing from your stash. The arsonist lobs Molotovs into crowds, and little fires keep setting your construction back.
  • On day 30 they come over the wall. Your defenses, your crew and every inmate who can hold a pistol decide how it ends.

A story behind bars

  • A warden who treats convicts like people. A prison counselor everyone calls the Godfather. A wedding under a rain of fire. A doctor who hates everyone, and stayed anyway.
  • Survive the siege and the city starts to burn. Get the truth to the outside world before the fire reaches your gate.

A new case file every week

  • One fixed run each week: the same city for everyone, with two twists. Post your best to the Steam leaderboard and watch the top ten replays.
