Why Early Access?

“I believe that for the game to reach its full potential, it is essential to listen to player feedback before the full release. The game has a quite deep story, and I want to use the feedback from the community to help shape this narrative, as well as refine the gameplay to reduce any feeling of repetition.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I am currently targeting a full release by August 2026, and I am fully committed to meeting this timeline while ensuring the game reaches the high standard of quality our players deserve.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version, I plan to expand the game significantly based on community feedback. Here are the main planned differences:

Branching Narrative: While the Early Access version features a linear story, the full release is planned to include player choices that actively shape the narrative.

New Level Types & Mechanics: I aim to introduce new level styles and continuously experiment with fresh mechanics to achieve the most enjoyable gameplay loop possible.

Competitive Features: The addition of new leaderboards, such as 'Reflex', is currently targeted for future updates.

Visual Upgrades: Character portraits are intended to be integrated into the story segments to further bring the cast to life.

Deeper Lore: I aim to significantly expand the Archives and in-game pop-up messages with more variety and depth to further immerse players in the world.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the Early Access version offers a fully playable game. It includes a realized version of the core mechanics across 2 different game modes, allowing you to experience the main storyline in 46 different languages. In terms of sound, music, atmosphere, and UI, the game is very close to the full release, but players can expect a build that remains completely open to further improvements and additions.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. I want to reward my early supporters, so the game will be available at a lower price during Early Access. As I add major new content, features, and transition to the full 1.0 release, the price will moderately increase to reflect the expanded experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As a solo developer, I plan to work closely with the community primarily through the Steam Discussions board and my direct contact channels. Here is how I will involve players:

Gameplay, Balance & Level Designs: I will actively listen to your feedback on the Steam forums regarding the difficulty curve, the 'Fake OS' mechanics, and the overall pacing. Furthermore, I highly encourage players to share their own level design ideas and puzzle concepts, which I will evaluate and integrate into future updates.

Shaping the Narrative: Since the game is moving towards a branching storyline, community theories and discussions will help inspire the direction of player choices and story outcomes.

Bug Tracking & QoL: I will closely monitor bug reports and Quality of Life (QoL) suggestions sent to my contact addresses or posted on Steam to improve the UI and user experience.

Transparent Communication: I will keep everyone informed with regular developer logs, roadmap updates, and detailed patch notes directly on the Steam page.”

Project: AFTERSHOCK is a narrative-driven Arcade Hacking Roguelite set in a dystopian future.

You are Dr. Rudolf Reinhardt Richter, who was once known as "The Architect". You built the nation's neural grid. The Regime branded you a traitor and buried you in a cell to silence you. But last night's suspicious "earthquake" shattered the prison walls.

Now, you are operating from a forgotten bunker you built 20 years ago. In front of you is a legacy terminal. The Regime is hunting for digital footprints, but they are blind to your analog signals.

They think the quake is over... But the real shockwave is coming.

GAMEPLAY

Reflexes are your only weapon. You have 3 seconds to breach the Regime's firewalls.

  • BE FAST: Identify the correct data nodes, decrypt the files, and siphon the funds.

  • BE CAREFUL: Avoid traps and aggressive AI countermeasures like AEGIS.

  • EVOLVE: The basic law of nature: If you want to survive, you must evolve. Use the funds stolen from the Regime to upgrade your legacy hardware in the Black Market.
