Leaving Early Access: 2026

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Battle Hanafuda already features fully implemented core gameplay and online multiplayer, and can be enjoyed as a complete game even in its current state.
We have chosen to release it in Early Access because we are currently developing an “Arcade Mode” where players can play toward an ending.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are aiming for a full release within 2026, although the exact timing may be adjusted to prioritize quality based on community feedback and ongoing development progress.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version already includes all core features such as online multiplayer, CPU matches, and Watch Mode, making it fully playable as a complete competitive game, while the full version is planned to expand the experience with a large-scale Arcade Mode featuring eight stages, progression-based gameplay, and new mini-games such as Oicho-Kabu to enhance the single-player experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“A beta version featuring Stage 1 through Stage 3 of Arcade Mode is currently available.
Development of Stage 4 and beyond is ongoing.
At the same time, we continue to improve online match stability, matchmaking quality, UI/UX, and overall game balance.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During the Early Access period, we plan to gradually adjust the price as new content and features are added. In fact, we have already increased the price when Hard Mode was introduced and when the Arcade Mode beta became available.
We plan to continue reviewing the price as Arcade Mode development progresses, while players who purchase the game early will receive all future updates at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can participate in development by sharing feedback through the Steam Community and reviews, including suggestions, balance feedback, and bug reports, and we will actively use real gameplay data and player experiences—especially from online matches—to prioritize improvements and guide ongoing development.”

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some illustrations used in the Arcade Mode (beta version) were created using a hybrid workflow that combines hand-drawn artwork and generative AI-assisted editing.
The developer first creates original pencil sketches by hand, then digitizes and edits them on PC. Generative AI is used only to assist with draft refinement and background adjustments, followed by additional manual editing in image software.
It has not yet been decided whether these illustrations will be replaced with fully hand-crafted versions during or after Early Access development.
