What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

““Even the Keeper cannot balance the scales alone…”

Heaven and Hell is a living crypt of chaos and choice, a game shaped by the cards you draw and the horrors you face. Early Access allows me to gather brave souls willing to step into the arena early and help forge balance amid the madness.

Your feedback will guide the tuning of enemy difficulty, card synergies, and Haven/Hell mechanics, ensuring the final version feels as tight and rewarding as possible. Together, we’ll refine the flow of combat, improve survival pacing, and shape new cards, modes, and unlocks based on your discoveries.

The Crypt is watching. The deck is not yet complete.
Join the trial, and help decide what awaits beyond the final Gate.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The creature will remain within the shadows of Early Access for roughly 6–12 months.

During this time, the dungeon will grow darker and deeper. New cards will be conjured, enemies will evolve into more terrifying forms, and additional bosses and environments will emerge from the depths. Systems such as balance, progression, and survival mechanics will also be refined as more unfortunate adventurers test their fate within the halls.

Of course… development is a fickle beast. Should the darkness demand more time to mature, the stay in Early Access may stretch a little longer until the experience is worthy of its final form.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build opens the gate… but the dungeon beneath is far deeper than what is first revealed.

The full version is planned to contain a greater number of cards, enemies, environments, and bosses, expanding the variety and danger of each run. Additional mechanics, events, and progression elements will be introduced to deepen the strategy behind survival and card choices.

Balance, performance, and overall polish will also be refined throughout development as the systems are tested by those who dare step inside during Early Access.

What begins as a solid foundation of combat, waves, and card-driven power will eventually grow into a far more complete and sinister experience once the final form emerges from the shadows.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game crawls into Early Access in a playable but still evolving state. The core systems are alive and functioning, combat, movement, weapons, enemies, rooms, waves, and the card-driven stat system all breathe within the current build. A full run can be played from start to death while waves of enemies grow increasingly vicious.

Yet the dungeon is far from finished.

More cards, enemies, environments, bosses, and balance adjustments still lurk in development. Systems will continue to be refined as feedback from brave souls who enter these halls begins to pile up.

Expect rough edges, shifting mechanics, and the occasional specter of a bug. Early Access is where the bones of the game are tested… and slowly given flesh.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes… the price is expected to rise once the game escapes the crypt of Early Access.

Those who dare to enter early will do so at a lower price, gaining access while the dungeon is still expanding and its horrors are still being forged. As new enemies awaken, more cards are etched into existence, and the full experience takes shape, the price will increase when the game reaches its final, complete release.

Early supporters claim their passage at a reduced cost… before the gates close and the full toll is demanded.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The dungeon does not grow in silence… the voices of those who wander its halls will shape what it becomes.

Feedback from players will guide the evolution of the game throughout Early Access. Balance changes, new cards, enemy behaviour, and future mechanics will be influenced by the experiences and discoveries of the community.

Players will be able to report bugs, suggest ideas, and share their thoughts through community hubs and discussion channels. The most valuable insights often come from those who have survived the longest… or died trying.

Through this collaboration, the game will slowly transform from its skeletal Early Access form into the fully realized creature it is meant to become.”
