About This Demo

The Minimum Viable Product edition of TIMEHEIST...

...is a minimal vertical slice representing the final product in the simplest way possible.

This means that there is a plethora of features that may or may not be in the final product that won't be in the demo, such as 3D assets, better music, and Marketplace support where you can earn a share of the item sales for items you submit. I had a bunch of details written down, but my Steam session timed out and didn't let me save it, so I'll just get the point across by making the following disclaimer:

THIS IS A BAREBONES VERSION OF WHAT TIMEHEIST WILL BE.

IT IS, HOWEVER, A SELF-CONTAINED PRODUCT IN AND OF ITSELF.

I WILL NOT BE CHARGING YOU FOR THIS VERSION, BECAUSE I WOULD

RATHER BE COMPENSATED FOR SOMETHING THAT I MUSTERED

MORE THAN THE BARE MINIMUM EFFORT INTO.

It's kind of like Tetris for the Elektronika 60, before Nintendo came and prettied up the graphics and bundled it with the Game Boy. This is that. It's exactly what it needs to be, simple enough in its design that it could run on anything within the last 20 years with a processor (OpenGL 2.0 support is probably planned for future updates) and representative of the fundamentals and cornerstones that the final release will build upon.

Traverse the ever-changing maze-like pocket dimension for riches untold! Be warned, only the richest return!

Features

• A procedurally generated maze that changes every minute for a total of five times in a round.

• Gold spawns randomly with each generation of the maze: collect it to increase your score.

• Top 50% of players advance to next round until the winner is decided by a 1v1.

• Up to 128 players can join a single lobby via Steam lobbies.

• Competitive gaming reduced down to its bare essentials.

The story so far...

You are a hacker at a competition. Your goal? Accessing the sitting president Ingot Menhir's secret pocket dimension, where he's rumored to store trillions worth of gold! All of a sudden, the screens all go black. "So, you want to obtain my riches, hm?" Menhir's face appears before the masses, with his iconic beady cameras for eyes. Suddenly, all the devices built to access his dimension turn on, fully functional! "THEN MAY THE BEST OF YOU COME TAKE IT! The rest of you? Well, there are fates worse than death... a fitting punishment for testing my patience! AHAHAHAHA!"
