Wellspring OLC (Online Creation) brings the spirit of classic text-based RPG worldbuilding tools into a modern Steam game.

Create worlds entirely through in-game editors: maps, encounters, NPCs, items, and logic - all without coding or scripting.
ASCII visuals are included by default, and tileset creators can import their own art if they prefer a graphical style.

This isn’t a fixed campaign you finish once. Wellspring is a creation-focused game, where the real content comes from you and the community.

🔹 What You Can Do

Join games for free as a player

Install the Free Client, connect to a GM’s session, and explore their worlds in ASCII or tileset mode.

Play modules solo

If you own the Player DLC or GM Toolset, you can run compatible Workshop modules alone at your own pace.

Build and host adventures as a GM

With the GM Toolset, you can create maps, races, classes, items, encounters, events, and full campaigns - all through in-game editors.

Share and play modules through Steam Workshop

Publish your creations or download adventures built by others.

🔹 A Platform for Modules, Not a Fixed Campaign

Wellspring includes a small built-in tutorial world to teach the basics, but everything beyond that is community-driven. Modules can be:

• one-shots

• large persistent worlds

• linear campaigns

• experimental regions or dungeons

• hub-based adventures

GMs build them entirely in-game using:

• ASCII and tileset map editors

• tools for NPCs, monsters, items, encounters, events, races, and classes

• data-driven RPG systems you can adjust without writing scripts

🔹 ASCII & Tileset Modes

Each module can provide one or both visual styles:

ASCII Mode - clean, fast, nostalgic
Tileset Mode - grid-based sprite visuals

If a module supports both, players can switch at any time.
Creators who don’t want to draw art can rely on the built-in ASCII set and focus on world logic and design.

As a GM (GM Toolset DLC)

You can:

• build adventures for groups or solo players

• define classes, races, items, events, and formulas

• host online sessions for up to 16 players

• publish modules to Workshop

As a Player (Player DLC)

You can:

• always join GM-hosted games for free using the Free Client

• explore compatible Workshop modules solo with the Player DLC or GM Toolset
