About This Game

AlterMage is a first person metroidvania that combines spell-slinging action with a cerebral exploration experience. As an aspiring mage seeking to learn sorcery, you find yourself upon the shores of a forbidden island fortress. Take up your staff and set out on a journey that will challenge your mind, body, and spirit as you uncover the truth behind the citadel's origin.

Within this labyrinth lie many converging passages built to test your resolve. Menacing machines, traps, and puzzles await those who dare to venture forth. Overcome them and claim new spells and traversal abilities to dominate both the environment and your enemies.

Choose Your Battles

Face an onslaught of magic-powered machines that patrol, investigate sights and sounds, raise alarms, use suppressing fire, and give no quarter in their hunt for you. Take them head on with your staff and sword, use stealth to set up ambushes, or utilize acrobatics and alternate paths to avoid them altogether.

Along the way your spells and abilities will level up and improve as you train them. Jump higher the more you jump. Use stealth frequently and become harder to detect. Destroy foes with fireballs to make your fire spells even more powerful.

Attune your staff using combinations of elemental runes to access your entire arsenal of spells at any time. Customize your staff using components discovered in the world to imbue it with new properties and collect and use rare materials to unlock potent Knowledge to further augment your play-style.
