About This Demo

You saved the world. Now you just want to chop wood. But monsters don’t retire, and neither can you.

This free demo is the opening of Tired of Being the Hero: a quiet retirement, a village that doesn't know who you used to be, and the night the monsters come knocking. Progress here doesn't carry into the full game, so play it as many times as you like. It's a story-rich, first-person dark fantasy RPG with a management twist and a deeper story about the choices we make. Get to know the local villagers, train peasants into warriors, raise morale, pull them out of harms way and stand together against monsters that refuse to let you fade into memory. Who would hold such a grudge against you anyways?

This demo is a self-contained slice of Tired of Being the Hero, built to give you a real taste of the story and combat.

Get To Know the Locals

Or don't! You're tired after all and protecting them doesn't mean failure. Name them and motivate them to be heroes themselves.

Test Your Villagers Against Powerful Foes

If you do choose to coddle the weak...Help them defeat enemies to raise morale. Spend that morale to increase their level and power. Teach them new abilities, shift their roles, pull them out of harms way with your mysterious "Savior" powers, and work together to survive the night.
